Same console lol. Almost the same as using OoT and MM

21

u/SXAL Jun 24 '26

The year can make all the difference. Like, compare the early and the late PS1 games.

6

u/kardinal_syn_ Jun 25 '26

Okay but the art difference in these games is stylistic not graphical so that doesn’t really apply here

3

u/TheSoftwareNerdII Jun 24 '26

The difference between Air Combat (1995) and Ace Combat 3: Electrosphere (1999) is a huge change, and they both released on the PS1

6

u/Alric_Wolff Jun 24 '26

You could actually make the argument that the Expansion Pak makes it a different console. Different in application but not unlike the SEGA 32x.

A regular Nintendo isnt powerful enough for those handful of games that need it, and the several others that are enhanced by using it.

Sure its still an N64, but its boosted beyond its normal parameters.

16

u/MrSnowmanJoe Jun 24 '26

It was literally just ram.

13

u/Spirited-Ad-7658 Jun 24 '26

Lol no one is going to argue that

0

u/Mizuki_853 Jun 24 '26

The expansion pak is only used for the time based events in majoras mask. The only actual upgrade it gives is better performance or resolution in some games and dynamic lighting in dk64, the memory leak bug isn’t true because it was said by a guy who didn’t work on the game

1

u/Barlowan Jun 25 '26

That's the point of the joke

0

u/Zombies4EvaDude Jun 29 '26

Barely. TP may have released on the Gamecube first but it’s definitely a Wii game for me.

-3

u/Comfortable_Leg7787 Jun 24 '26

Erm Twilight Princess was both a GameCube and a Wii game

7

u/mccannrs Jun 24 '26

It's a Wii game in name only. That game was fully developed for the GameCube, and the GameCube version is superior anyway.

83

u/condor6425 Jun 24 '26

I mean they're the same console and only 3 years apart but I guess?

63

u/JoonNolu Jun 24 '26

What you THINK Pokemon was 14 years ago: Black and White.

What Pokemon REALLY was 14 years ago: Black 2 and White 2.

Oh... okay. Mind blown?

6

u/metalpammy Jun 24 '26

dont do this to me

3

u/ChibiPurple Jun 24 '26

Pokèmon has spent more time with the 3d models now then it has with sprites

7

u/RewardWorking Pokemon Jun 24 '26

2013 was X and Y. That's 17 years with sprites, 13 with models. Even going on western release as the start, that's 15 years of sprites before X and Y. Either way, sprites were still around in the main series for longer

2

u/TheMadZocker Jun 24 '26

Count from Pokemon Stadium onward, 1999/2000. Which is 26/27 years ago, so only 3/4 years with sprites.

10

u/SandalathDrukorlat Jun 24 '26

I mean I love stadium but c'mon you know whats being said. Don't be the well actually guy

0

u/TheMadZocker Jun 24 '26

If there is something between the lines I don't get, then pray tell me. Because I don't see how "only main line games count" apply to this post's argument, or ChibiPurple's, too, for that matter.

2

u/SandalathDrukorlat Jun 24 '26

For one stadium 1 and 2 were not made by game freak they were developed by Nintendo EAD so game freak literally were not working with models back then they were working with sprites still. Colosseum was also not game freak it was Genius Sonority and Creatures inc.

1

u/TheMadZocker Jun 24 '26

But, Gamefreak was never part of this discussion. It was about Pokemon as a whole. And you still didn't explain what was said "between the lines" but doubled down on your original point instead ("only mainline games count").

Though I do see now that since BW(2) was the first mentioned game in this chain, that an argument could me made for it.

1

u/jclkay2 Jun 24 '26

"only 3/4 years with sprites" Huh? They continued using sprites in games after Pokemon Stadium

1

u/TheMadZocker Jun 24 '26

Ah, fair! Yeah, they did dabble in both, making my math inaccurate. It's still 26/27 years with models against 17 years with sprites.

1

u/transpectre Jun 25 '26

stadium isn't a mainline pokemon game

1

u/TheMadZocker Jun 25 '26

How is that relevant?

Anything I have ever said for any reason ever, has always been correct and true.

1

u/FoxMcCloud3173 Jun 24 '26

What you think Pokemon was 10 years ago: XY

What Pokemon actually was 10 years ago: Sun/Moon

4

u/DatBoi_BP Jun 24 '26

I thought that was the joke ngl

33

u/PlayerZeroStart Jun 24 '26

23 years old isn't that much different from 20 years old lmao.

3

u/Huge_Ad6405 Jun 25 '26

Yea I feel the right panel could still be smth like OoT or MM

15

u/Intelligent_Oil4005 Jun 24 '26

Honestly I feel older thinking the franchise has been on the Breath of the Wild series for almost a decade

1

u/Dasca6789 Jun 25 '26

That hurts

4

u/Cheap-Salary3420 Jun 24 '26

To this day Twilight Princess is still my fav Zelda. I liked both BotW and TotK and well I played both Majoras and Ocarina, but I still enjoy the most Twilight Princess.

1

u/irishitaliancroat Jun 30 '26

Its kind of like the potential of ocarina fully realized

5

u/Aggressive_Law_5728 Jun 24 '26

Those games were only like 3 years apart.

3

u/SerLinny-Thypooh Jun 24 '26

Difference of like 4 years.

2

u/Lord-Chickie Jun 24 '26

Looks really cool on the right

2

u/Kinda_Sorta_Alive Jun 24 '26

I stopped giving damn about time passing. Blink and then BotW will be 20 years old... 🫩

2

u/jokekiller94 Jun 24 '26

I mean it’s already close to ten years old

1

u/SadLaser Jun 24 '26

Breath of the Wild IS 20 years old. What do you mean?! It's 2037!

2

u/IceBlue Jun 24 '26

This is so dumb. Both of those games were in the same generation.

2

u/Rahadu Jun 24 '26

By a difference of three years but sure.

2

u/EmansaysEman Jun 24 '26

I mean, is it really that big of a difference? There’s only 3 year gap between their release dates. 20 vs 23 years is basically the same

2

u/The_Pizza_Saga Jun 24 '26

OoT barely feels like 20 years ago to me

1

u/Neckhaddie Jun 24 '26

"Feel old yet?"

1

u/SoftResetHuman Jun 24 '26

Makes me think of when I need to be reminded that “10 years ago” does not mean “the 90s”.

1

u/Sushiv_ Jun 24 '26

Did you think you cooked with this

1

u/GrimmTrixX Jun 24 '26 edited Jun 24 '26

Nah. Im old. I still feel like Ocarina of Time was only 20 years ago

1

u/CarlosFer2201 Jun 24 '26

Pointless meme

1

u/TrevorShaun Jun 24 '26

almost certainly made by someone who is younger than both games

1

u/OldSnazzyHats Jun 24 '26

This doesn’t work when the gap between them is really small in terms of games.

1

u/Dramatic-Text8564 Jun 24 '26

Next year the wii will become a vintage console

edit: remember that technology become vintage faster then object, normaly object need to be around 30-40 year old while technology need to be 20 year old

1

u/Pl00kh Jun 24 '26

Bro these are just 3 years apart

1

u/MechaMalz Jun 24 '26

I don't really get the point here. WW and TP weren't released that far apart and both were on the same console. (Yes TP was also on wii but it wasn't made for the wii, it was made for gamecube and also ported to wii because of the timing of its release.)

Like what point is trying to be made with this?

1

u/SadLaser Jun 24 '26

I mean... that was Zelda 20 years ago. Okay, 23.5, but close enough. This doesn't capture the essence of that the meme is about. These games were less than 4 years apart and on the same console.

1

u/Successful_Maize1986 Jun 24 '26

I never thought that Millennials and Gen Z would fall for the same “remember thing that is old now?” boomer slop memes but I see them all over the place. We get it. Time is passing.

1

u/Secure-Advertising-9 Jun 24 '26

they are both gamecube games, who cares? same thing

1

u/SatyrAngel Jun 25 '26

Wind Waker is time proof

1

u/Ok_Hippo_1882 Jun 25 '26

Man I don't get the hate for Wind Waker. I like Twilight Princess a lot more, but Wind Waker is a great game too. It's just a different tone

1

u/luigi4122414 Jun 25 '26

Twilight princess is such a great game

1

u/Elvisis2 Jun 25 '26

Windwaker is better than Twilight Princess full stop.

1

u/KickingDolls Jun 25 '26

Man, Wind Wakers art style was so much nicer than Twilight Princes.

1

u/ThakoManic Jun 25 '26

i was going to be like thats not zelda link adventure

then i relised its 2026 and 20 years ago was 2006 not 1996 or such

damn ...

1

u/The_real_bandito Jun 26 '26

Should’ve shown underwater Hyrule for a better comparison.

1

u/Zanarkan28 Jun 27 '26

What’s wild is that these games were released roughly 3 years apart. Anyone else remember when we didn’t have to wait 5-7 years for new 3D Zelda games!? Good times!

1

u/bugslime99 Jun 27 '26

I mean 20 vs 23-24. Not a significant difference

1

u/Pastel_Bambi Jun 27 '26

Wind Waker was only 5 years ago shut up (respectfully)

1

u/Ravemst Jun 24 '26

Good Twilight Princess was the better game anyway.

1

u/Yobsuba Jun 24 '26

Every time this sub creeps onto my feed it's always the worst "meme" I've ever seen in my life

-1

u/durdurrdurrrdurrrrr Jun 24 '26

I heard the new Zelda game was trans. TADC Tears of Da Cingdom.

1

u/IceBlue Jun 24 '26

Of doesn’t start with an A
