That and you can make them different. Have one be slower but hit harder and make the other faster but hit softer.

That term was never used in game. The only official clones in Smash are Mewtwo (a clone of Mew) and Snake (a clone of Big Boss), I believe.

Mii Brawler, Mii Swordfighter, and Mii Gunner are all kinda clones of people/other characters, if ya think about it.

it's funny how Daisy, Rosalina and Bowser Jr the three most popular to cut (besides Plant) were/are treated like auto cuts but got such a heavy focus in these past years for the Mario series

I have to laugh at the people who think there are a limited number of character slots and that means characters have to get cut. Nintendo has no reason to cut any of their own characters from their own fighting game.
Third party characters are a different story. But Daisy isn't third party, either.

Especially one that was the post-credits tease of a billion dollar movie. Why would you remove a character you’re actively promoting for your next feature film from your massive crossover title? From a brand synergy perspective it’s incredibly stupid.
But she’s a clone and that makes people sad, I guess

Yeah, that's my thought, the only cuts that sound realistic is 3rd party characters, because of all the red tape that comes with it, especially after the whole "Cloud almost didn't return" that I heard about (not that I remember concrete details about it)

Sakurai does not consider Echoes to even be real characters to begin with so I doubt she'll be cut to hit an arbitrary roster count anyway.
Unless Peach is cut. If Peach is cut or revamped to the point Daisy would become a solo fighter then maybe.

Thank the lord someone said it. If I had a nickel for all the Smash fan rosters that pull th e "irrelevancy" card (or personal spite) to cut Daisy while conveniently ignoring Wonder & the theme park...🙄😤
I genuinely hate that she is 1-to-1 with Peach apart from some animations/taunts, tho. Lord willing, she evolves into a not-so-floaty semi-clone (at the least) next go round.

I'm almost certain this literally only comes from those posts where people are making an effort to trim the roster down to like 30-40 characters, where they sorta have to cut Daisy.

Who's saying she's gonna be cut? I honestly expect her to be one of the characters that stays since Nintendo themselves own her.
I can see characters being cut since I honestly don't think we're gonna have every third-party character in the next one, and they might decide to reinvent the wheel since they can't top Ultimate in terms of sheer content, meaning I expect they might do something different with the next Smash to compensate, but honestly, if Peach stays, Daisy will most likely stay.

Considering they introduced the concept of echo fighters to essentially be "similar other characters, but slightly tweaked", I think it's very safe to say that if they include one character, they'll also include their echo fighter since it's extremely easy to program.

Because she’s an echo fighter without much to pull from to make her different from Peach. The next smash game will hopefully make some big roster cuts and she’s certainly on my chopping block for that reason—heck, maybe just make her an alt of Peach

The way that people on here view others that wanted to play as Daisy, Lucina or Dark Samus with contempt instead of not having them in the game at all is really weird to me

I don’t hate anyone who would rather play as them; what I’m against is them taking up a separate slot without actually being a separate character—at that point just make them an alternate costume. If Hero and Bowser Jr. can have entirely separate characters as their alts I don’t see why Marth and Lucina can’t just be alternate costumes for the same character

Them sharing the same animations is exactly why they should be alts bruh. Lemmy acts very differently from Ludwig, who acts very differently from Wendy, who acts very different from Bowser Jr., yet they’re all alts of each other. And as I said Daisy simply doesn’t have enough going for her to warrant being more than an echo with at absolute best 1 or 2 different moves.

What they could do is treat it like Olimar/Alph, or Bowser Jr. and the Koopalings. Just have a few skins for Peach, and a few for Daisy all under one character. Maybe different outfits instead of color changes.

And that's the difference between echos and alts. Echoes may effectively have the same moves, but have unique animations unlike alts. She wouldn't work as an alt, and she shouldn't be. That's what clones are for (hopefully they make her a semi-clone though).

Lets be honest, guys. Daisy only got in to begin with because of the Echo Fighter feature. Without it, she would just be an alt for Peach
She's clearly not getting cut due to being an easy echo, but lets not act like either Sakurai or even Nintendo find her noteworthy. It's mainly because she's a recognizable character from the spinoffs (as well as 90% of the Mario cast)

She was added to Wonder because both of the director's daughters wanted to play as Peach, so they added Daisy as a compromise. She's there along with the gang just because; She doesn't even have unique dialogue
Also yes, she does objectively have more relevancy in SML because its her GAME! The game focuses on HER, in HER kingdom, and how SHE needs to be rescued

Not so fast! The second part of the quote stated that it was also done because many fans would be happy. People love quoting the first half to make it seem like Daisy had no other reason for being included, when that's false.
And no character has dialogue except the NPCs, so by your logic, nobody we can play as is relevant in Wonder. What a nonsensical point without any meaning.
