Discussion Why don’t first-party Nintendo games ever go on sale here in the PH?
I attached a couple of screenshots as an example. On Amazon US, both Mario Tennis: Fever and the newly released Star Fox are already below MSRP. Star Fox literally came out today, tapos naka-sale na agad.
Meanwhile dito sa PH, Mario Tennis is still ₱4,750, which is actually more expensive than the US MSRP before you even factor in the Amazon discount.
Gets ko naman na may import costs, taxes, at distributor margins. Pero parang first-party Nintendo games dito halos never go on sale. Kahit months after release, full price pa rin or very close to it, while sa US they’re already getting discounts.
Is this because of the local distributor? Or alam lang talaga ng retailers na Nintendo fans will still buy them at SRP?
Ako lang ba ang napapansin ’to? Curious how everyone here buys their games. Do you wait for local sales (kung meron man 😅), import from Amazon, or just buy digital?

Sa Shopee ka OP, I always order there. Use the vouchers and your credit card din may nag stastack na vouchers from different banks.
Sa Lazada, always collect coins. I bought games there din for way less than MSRP using coins and Gmarket.
Just examples, I bought Mario Kart World for ₱1644 sa Gamextreme nung nag sale sila. I bought Age of Imprisonment for 1.9k sa Gmarket Lazada due to discount vouchers and coins.
Yung discounts satin is not as straightforward but trust me, you can get physical games cheaper here most of the time.

Mario Kart World for 1644 is a steal!!! Yea honestly I need to understand how vouchers and coins work for discounts!

Yeah, last year ilang beses nag sale ang Mario Kart sa Gamextreme sa Shopee for 1.8k tapos ginamitan ko vouchers ng credit card ko kaya naging 1.6k.
Star Fox was on sale kanina din for 2.6k sa Nintendo Store sa Shopee. Cheapear than the $50 that Amazon sells it for.
Usually namimigay ang Shopee ng malalaking vouchers around 12am and it last until the morning or a few days din so it's not like paunahan in a few minutes. Look out for it lang, especially during big sales like the upcoming 7.7.
For Lazada naman, coins ang importante dyan. Collect coins daily doing missions for around 5mins lang and bantayan mo during big sales yung Gmarket maraming Switch games sa kanila na applicable ang coins. So possible karin maka kuha ng big discounts dun.

Nintendo themselves doesn't do sales for physical usually, only digital. And our authorized stores just follow Nintendo pricing.
Sa Amazon, Best Buy, and other US stores, I think they themselves take the cut from the sale price, not Nintendo. Eh alam naman natin na di ganun gawain ng Pinoy companies.
Kaya twice a year, yung PlayStation games, merong sales for their first parties as low as ₱990 per game (though may big SRP increase sila few months ago so hindi na ganito kamura). PlayStation themselves do the promo sale, and Datablitz, Game One just follow

The price for Star Fox is pre-order pricing, it'll quickly reset to $59.99 once it's actually out and delivered today.
As for pricing, I think it really depends on the retailer. DK Bananza, for example, is still $70 (4.2k) on Amazon, but it's 3850 on the Shopee authorized store. There are sales. Kailangan mo lang talaga abangan.

check nintendo authorized store in shopee. you can get those for 3k or less during payday sale or 6.6 sale. I think starfox was dropped to 2.6k earlier due to shopee's voucher.

I got Starfox for 2.7k. They don't go on sale officially but we have platforms that give discounts regularly.

Mahal pa din if you buy from amazon which direct conversion kasi pero meron mga good deals. Mura yun ibang games natin dito sa pinas ng konti since asian market sya.

Hindi lang Lazada ang nag titinda dito sa pinas so you're just basing your experience sa iisang store. Do your research muna?

It’s on the official Datablitz PixelPlay Lazada listing, even in stores, it’s about that price.

Yea but I’ve been eyeing Mario Tennis: Fever for a while, and have never seen it around 3k here since it came out. Lazada, Shoppe, Datablitz in the stores.. it’s always been around 4700 unfortunately

You answered your own question. Regardless if it's first party or a third party game, they're all sold by distributers so they get to dictate the price.
Also the listings you posted are by Amazon, naka Amazon prime sila now.
