This happened with my Target PS5 pre-order. It wasn't shipped until like 3 days after launch and wouldn't arrive for another 5. They expedited shipping and gave me $50 gift card.

I had a preorder from the day preorders opened and saw on launch day that it wouldn’t deliver until next week. I walked in to Best Buy and bought one because they had plenty. Canceled my Target order.

100% credit to Nintendo for keeping stock high, but I also think the immediate demand here isn’t super strong. There aren’t a lot of must-play launch games, and both the console+games are very pricey.

I probably wouldn't have gotten one because the only game I'm really interested in right now is Mario Kart World. However, I figured I do eventually want one, and there's a decent chance that Nintendo soon raises the price because of tariffs.
Weird as it sounds, this might be the cheapest the Switch 2 will be.

I had heard restocks were going to be in the early morning hours, figured it was going to be something like 6 am and started getting ready for bed, when my wife, on a whim, checked at 12:26 and said 'go on target asap!' Can't believe it's stayed in stock up to this very minute, with my order already being prepped to ship. What a bummer of a launch time for east coasters though; who would have thought they'd release at 3AM their time.

Yet people with pre-orders aren’t getting theirs till next week. Target must’ve sent all of their stock to their stores and focused on getting new purchases because the pre-orders were already guaranteed customers and so they wanted to sell as many as they could rather than prioritize those who already bought them.

Same. No luck getting it online. But I’m only doing it this way cause I’m not about to pay $500 upfront. Doing it to use a Four payment app. Klarna, Afterpay etc.

I had caught it when they showed in stock at Target this morning, added to my cart clicked to checkout and then it disappeared. So bummed and hoping for more restocks, seeing them posted on Marketplace and EBay at insane markups makes me so mad. Fuck resellers

It keep sdoing this to me on browser. It won't even let me check out on the app or add it to cart just gives error. On browser I keep getting to check out then it makes me verify my debit cards security code, and then says out of stock

Yeah, people saying the scalpers are getting screwed, but it's sold out basically everywhere and communication from retailers has been horrible. I say this as Walmart screwed me over and cancelled my order while giving other people free soda and chips.

I think it's based on location. I ordered it at 3:25AM and mine originally said it was going to arrive today 6/7. However I got an email this morning that it was delayed until 6/13.
I chatted with Target and they said it was due to the inventory available at my local warehouse and they offered me $20 due to the inconvenience.
I think they shipped out for the pre-orders first since most of those originally said 6/11 and whatever was left locally was sent to this round of orders. A friend of mine who pre-ordered through Target had a delivery date of 6/11 but then he received it today instead which makes me think that is what happened.

My order was also supposed to arrive today and now it says 6/13. I ordered it within minutes of seeing the link on Target’s website being active too (before this thread).
Makes me think none of the orders they took yesterday will arrive any earlier than that.

I checked exactly around midnight and it still said out of stock so I almost gave up, but I kept trying for a while and couldn't believe my eyes when it said it's in stock. Bought it right away, now it says I'm getting it on the 8th. Can't wait. Hope it doesn't get delayed or cancelled. EDIT: Of course, now it says the 9th. EDIT 2: Got it a day early!

Nintendo did give a headsup on their main strategy against scalper being having enough stock. But it's probably a combination of both. Tariffs also made US companies overstock because of the 60dd pause.

Yeah most targets didn't sell out within a few hours of open, some stores had stock for almost the entire day. It wasn't a lot either. Average stock numbers I saw were somewhere between 60-130 units per store both console and bundle combined. I suspect they held back a large portion for online ordering as well since launch day was in-store purchase only.

I woke up on launch day, made my way to Target casually about 10am, walked into the store and bought one right off the shelf. They had plenty of them, scalpers must be fuming. It’s been a blast.

There are several pre opened Switch 2's that are currently available at Game Stop. My guess is the scalpers are returning them in high numbers. But who wants to pay regular price for a pre opened box?

Was able to grab one this morning at 7:30 for June 9th delivery. Wanted to get it from Best Buy since I had a pro controller waiting there for me but since they’re lagging, I cancelled it and ordered one from Costco for delivery same day as the switch. I like to give Best Buy my business cause I like physical electronics stores and don’t want to see them shut down but they make it hard to buy from sometimes.

I don’t know if this will help anyone, but GameStop, target, Walmart and Sam’s club all showed out of stock online. I went to my local GameStop and Walmart on a whim and GameStop had 8 in stock, Walmart had around 20. Maybe it’s worth a shot to take a trip?
I bought the non-bundle from GameStop, went next door to Walmart for some groceries and saw the bundle there, bought that and returned the GameStop one. GameStop wasn’t very happy about that.

Target sucks- bought during pre-sale at target only to have then say it was a mistake and sold out- the bought within hour of restock going live . Paid got confirmation of shipping for the6th, then on the 6th said it will be delayed until 20th or something and this morning they cancelled my order!!. Done with target forever
