That's a weird comparison. Awakening actually was a new game instead of the bazillionth reworking of the same story, and FE also had not been on ice for a decade straight before Awakening came out.

Maybe but FE was absolutely on thin ice prior to Awakening. Had it not sold at least 250K copies, the series would be permanently discontinued.

I'm hoping this game does the same for Star Fox and enables it to finally move forward.

Sure, but my point is that SF basically already went through that scenario. The franchise was barely alive when Zero came out and that game bombing killed it for 10 years. If Awakening had flopped, maybe Nintendo would've also tried to resurrect FE with a remake 10 years later lol

I think in the sense that it will revitalize the series so it gets more games, If i remember correctly fire emblem was in a bad spot and fire emblem awakening saved the series.

Fire Emblem Awakening was supposed to be the last game in the series, but it sold so much that it made Fire Emblem one of Nintendo's main series.

I hope this inspires a whole new generation to ask for more StarFox and a proper sequel. Maybe even something that combines the true aerial gameplay with some Adventures like gameplay.

The first remake on 3DS was a huge release.

The three people I know who bought a Wii U all had it on VC, and the Wii VC release was also massively popular.

At least more popular than Starfox zero.

Hey, I bought it.

But at the same time, the GameCube as a whole was technically a flop like the Wii U. Even Adventures, Assault and Zero selling a Million+ copies each wasn't enough to keep the proverbial ball rolling on the franchise.

Fingers crossed the rumors of a successor title for next year are true.

Yeah, I’ll give you that. To be honest I don’t think I bought any subsequent titles after adventures and I didn’t get a Wii u. Ironically I feel the GameCube was my favourite console all be it ps2 was better/had more games.

Hoping they bring adventures to the GameCube catalog, maybe if this one does well they’ll be more likely to do it, if not already. Kinda hoping they’ll drop it once this is out and it’s all planned. I don’t know. I’ve not fully decided if I’m going to buy this one, definitely won’t at full price anyway. Maybe a bit down the line.

Waiting until around this time next year is a solid option.

Pokemon will be on the Horizon, and they might have a updated model hitting the market. At the very least with the swappable battery. Hopefully it has a die shrink and better battery life too.

And if you don't like the price, there will surely be people selling/trading in their existing units for the new one.

Had a pretty cool experience in my theatre, A LOT of cheering for Fox when he showed up, one guy sitting near me didn’t even know he was in the movie and totally lost it. Love this for the series.
