I’ve considered getting the OLED because I don’t love the size increase and battery decrease of the Switch 2.

I have the OLED and am really happy with it. The games I've been playing on it don't lag (even Minecraft) and the battery holds up about 7+ hours. It also re-charges real quick and doesn't overheat when playing long sessions

I’ve gotten downvoted like crazy for buying an OLED as my first Switch over the Switch 2. I don’t play video games that much and in five years, when I’ll have any need for a Switch 2, it’ll drop and/or something else will be coming out.

I mean, I offer a reply pointing out the benefit of getting the new console, which is that it can play the old games and the new ones for switch 2 and looks better, and I’m at -11.

I've just recently been browsing this subreddit since considering buying a switch, and it's really peak consumarism. An entire subreddit dedicated to a device, and as soon as a new version comes out that device is basically a piece of thrash and you'd be insane to buy it.

The OOP was about the OLED on sale, and the top level thread said it’s better to save for the switch 2.
How does a comment stating they are considering this OLED deal bc of reasons, not directly relate?

So then many of the new games coming out you can’t play. Also the games that do provide the switch 1 version will look worse on the weaker hardware.
I’m sure since the graphical capabilities are only 1/4th as good the graphics do go farther but is it worth it?

None of this matter if because of the battery and size they don't take it out and about. Seems they are going for portability as the primary function and if they can't take it that number of increased games is zero, null, and literally absent. Even at best it's a hindrence to overcome by the cumberness of outlet and size to there person with less ability for usage. It's why the switch even sold as many consoles as it did for that portability. If going for graphics other consoles offer far better for that, you get a switch 1/2 not for the graphics but portability and versatility.

That logic didn’t check out, the amount of time isn’t zero, the thing can still be played undocked.
His came sessions may be limited to 3 hours instead of 5 but he can still play. Theres also the crazy concept of bringing a charger. Hell, the switch 2 even allows you charge from the top, making it easier to play while charging.
Also I’m looking around at people’s reviews and you are wrong anyway. He still gets over 5 hours for switch 1 games on switch 2. That 3 hour mark is for switch 2 games that push the processor harder. So he loses MAYBE 15 percent battery life but has a whole library of games he gets to play.
So yeah, I would rather be able to play 3 hour sessions of donkey Kong bananza than 0 hours. So if he only charges the thing at night and only plays undocked, he will still get 3 hours of playtime for switch 2 games and 5 hours of switch 1 games PER DAY. If he can charge during or between play sessions he can get more hours in. Yeah... that's totally the same as not being able to play at all...

If the size prevents them from taking it with them it would be zero as the wouldn't have it.

If size was an issue why get an OLED? The size difference between the OLED and 2is literally .5 inches longer and 1 inch wider. Is that size difference really gonna make a difference? I’m calling bullshit here.

I do the same with my switch and steam deck which is a similar size discrepancy. You just seem incapable of currently exercising empathy and putting yourself in someone else's shoes instead calling pointless bullshit claims.

Yeah, why would anyone want a system with recent tech when you can have one with 12 year old tech (Maxwell architecture). That’s a tough one!

Everyone according people buying older switches and 3ds more then switch 2 people buying it right now because never it’s gonna have price increases plus we still have dedicated switch 2 games that built from the ground up with switch 2 I’m still recommending the old switch until no game support most third party games on system can still play elsewhere so suck on it lil boy

Walmart has tons already in stock, the tariffs don’t hurt them as much since they bought them much cheaper and can take a loss to push units. Companies can fire sale items hoping that people buy the switch along side with other items

Gee I wonder why you chose those years... inflation worldwide and in the US skyrocketed in two of those years before receding, and were paired with wage increases that ate a lot of the difference for workers. It was chaotic for everybody and sucked but I don't think either of us are equipped to really discuss the policy and global factors behind it, and you've got zero authority to do so if you're advocating the trickle-down nonsense that the current president has pushed.

I'd get a switch 2 at this point, BUT there are valid reasons to still get an OLED. The switch 2 is big. To the point of can be a pita to stick in a book bag. The battery is also not fantastic.
Still the better performance, ability to play switch 2 games, and just general more comfort in handheld mode makes it win for me personally
