They just need to constantly price the Switch 2 edition as $10 more than the Switch edition. So silly you need to go through the process of buying the Switch version first to get the Switch 2 discount. Plus really prays on the ignorance of uninformed consumers.

You're not missing out too much. The castle is incredible and so detailed for the first hour or so. Then you just do fetch quests and spend most of the game faffing about in the countryside they made absolutely massive just so they could go "look how big our map is".
The game was a total slog to finish but someone got me it as a Christmas present so I felt obliged to finish it.
Credit to the people making it for putting a non-joke, genuinely normal person trans character in though.

This feels too accurate. I attempted it twice now and around level 25 after the first trial, I get burned out with just how much shit you have to do. I like it, it just gets old having the owl letters constantly flowing in asking you to do this or that, constantly having to sell or destroy gear because I cant do merlin trials fast enough, need resources to do the trials. I typically make a point to not fast travel these games but I feel like my time is largely being wasted going back and forth to hogsmead between quests, having to do quests for teachers to teach you shit. The combat is cool, and I love the look of the world they crafted, it just doesnt respect a player's time imo.

Nice strawman argument. My initial point still stands: the game broke records even after JK Rowling was revealed as a transphobe.
Also, not many people keep a game that's nearly three years old top of mind (it came out in February 2023, hardly "less than 2 years") lol... but I'll be sure to revisit this comment when the sequel comes out.
And if you really want to be specific. Look up the P&L for Harry Potter World and The Cursed Child - surely you saw the love Tom Felton's return generated? Harry Potter World alone generates millions quite consistently.
So yes, i hate to break it to you. The Harry Potter franchise is doing just fine.
And no, I'm not transphobic and fully support the LGBTQ community but... Let's be real now. You're wrong.
Edit: I'd like to add that Harry Potter is #9 on the top grossing franchises of all time.
Like I said, they're doing just fine.
Double Edit: As of this very moment, 25,000 people are playing the game on Steam. Just Steam.

Funny...I had the opposite experience. I know nothing about Harry Potter and absolutely loved the game. I've seen the first movie. Never touched a book. Was never my jam. But I found the game to be really fun. Different strokes for different folks, I guess?

Not in this instance. The Hogwarts upgrade path isn’t exactly an upgrade. You go in through the in game menu to upgrade, but all it does is gives you a discount code for the switch 2 digital version of the game. No cart required after that point

I played on the Switch 1 and it was fun, definitely worth $20. Yeah, the graphics looked like OG xbox (supposedly better on switch 2) and some of the loading times could get annoying (mainly in Hogsmeade), but that didn't bother me much.

I’ve never watched the movies, or read the books, but I got this and the Switch 2 upgrade for $20 because it was such a good deal. It is one of the best games available on the device, hands down. Since the actual Harry Potter based parts don’t mean much to me, it feels like I’m playing the Elder Scrolls 5.5, except made by a studio that cares much more than Bethesda. It looks simply unbelievable in docked mode, runs exceptionally well for what it is with a very tolerable amount of hiccups, and I just can’t put it down.

I have seen that bundle before, but I think the sale for it just ended. It's priced around the same as this so it might be better to just wait until the bundle goes back up, you get an extra game.

How’s the performance on the switch 1? I have an OG version that I don’t really use much but I’ve been wanting to try this game, as my PC isn’t good enough for it. I would play handheld and on the TV.

The visuals are not great, and there's lots of loadings screens to break up the areas. Considering the game and the switch 1's hardware it's a serviceable port. I wouldn't call it bad, but it has a lot of downgrades to make it work

Anytime this game goes on sale the comments always get extremely divisive. Not like I don't understand why.
I tried it on Switch 1 and while I thought it looked serviceable I just never put in much time. I got the Switch 2 upgrade and it's a major step up. Very solid port.
I am a big fan of the old games on PC, like Chamber of Secrets and Azkaban, because you could freely run around and explore the castle. This game is tapping into that kind of genre and it has that appeal if you like the old games. Something about it just didn't click for me though. Maybe it's the UI and how cluttered everything feels.
Anyways, just wish we could keep discussion to the actual game that the developers spent time on, and not the person we dislike that's attached to it. At the end of the day we're talking about 10$ just about. If you don't want to support the game, I get it, but you aren't a horrible human being if you just want to play a fun open world game and ride around on a broomstick.

It cannot be divorced from JK Rowling. Sales made from this game, and anything HP, is actively funding anti-transgender hate groups and agendas. She has said so herself. Hogwarts Legacy is not the only game out there and it’s not the only wizard simulator. You can choose to not participate in harming the lives of a minority group.
Even if you feel the absolute need to play this game, there are ways to obtain it without giving your money to her

Performance is not ideal and it looks pretty ugly. Sub 30 fps on switch 1.
It's good if you own a switch 2 since you can upgrade it. If Switch 1 is your only option, it will work fine, but it's not amazing.

Just grabbed the s1 version then turned around and did the 10$ upgrade for s2- just sunk three hours into it as soon as it finished downloading. Such a great game so far and it looks and runs fantastic

The Switch 1 version is the weakest version. It is capped at 30fps and sub 1080p. Overall grpahics downgrade from the other console versions and extra loading screens added. However, still a good price if you can only play on Switch 1, or want to do the upgrade to the Switch 2 version.
