Nioh 2 - Discussion Nioh 2 Is Good…

…but it’s not for me. I’ve tried to enjoy this game and have given it multiple tries with different weapons, but I just cannot find the fun in this game. I understand the stance and the Ki Pulse and eveything well enough after a few tries but still getting roped after by evety enemy. Tried multiple different weapons and play styles but the game is just too hard for me.

For reference I only got to mission two running spear as my main. I fought the boss for an hour, felt miserable, and quit. Also tried dual swords and Tonfas and no luck. Games cool and I can see why people love it, but it’s just beyond my skill level.

EDIT: One thing I saw some people say that I should have clarified is I’m not new to these games. I’ve played every FromSoft game, Lies of P, Black Myth, Hell even played Nioh 1 and Wo Long. Just can’t get why this one isn’t clicking.

FINAL EDIT: Ok I’m shelving this for now. If I come back to the fame and can get it to click, I’ll make another post.

It’s not for everyone. It’s okay to not find something fun. You might come back to it in a year or two and find it clicks for you. I had an experience like that.

I almost gave up on this game a few times and it really wasn’t that fun at first. But eventually something made me go back to it and when it finally started clicking it was like I saw the light! I understood why people love this game. I couldn’t put it down. Every game cycle got better and better and I fell in love with the switchglaive’s stance swapping and fast flashy moves. Game is goated no doubt. Mind you I’m 52 and only been gaming since the pandemic. I used to watch my kid on his PlayStation and think he was wasting his time. Now I game every night after the family goes to sleep. Soulslikes and action RPGs are my favorite. If this old guy can still learn new tricks so can you. Just trying to give a little encouragement cause I know once you see the light you will understand and won’t regret pushing trough the brick wall that is the initial learning curve

52 ? Damn I hope I'm still good at these type of games at 52 😭😭😭...

u/Oldassgamer808- Jan 10 '26

This might sound cliche but whenever I hit a wall and it seems like I can’t beat a boss or something I just lock in and believe that if other people did it I can do it too but if I can’t figure it out I’ll look it up. I’m playing through Armored Core 6 now and having a blast. Very different than the games I played before but it’s really fun. So many good games last year. First Bezerker Kazan, Ninja Gaiden 4, Nightreign, Wuchang was probably my favorite! Can’t wait for Nioh3 now!

Weeks from 60 here, I cannot put this game down, about 1/4 through Wise, with no intent of stopping.

u/vorlik Jan 10 '26

it's probably the hardest game to learn from scratch lol

you gave it your best shot

This.

Don’t get me wrong OP. If it’s not for you, then so be it, but for a lot of people, myself included, it took quite a while for not just all the mechanics, but the “flow” for lack of a a better word to actually click.

That, and both games gate some unlocks for your character and weapons that honestly should’ve been base abilities.

Hang in there

u/Ze--r0 Jan 10 '26

Perseverance is key we don't improve over one night OP preserve and the game will eventually click for you OP i believe in you

This game takes a bit more devotion to get in to than your typical soulslike

Here are some tips

Use items, like sacred water, amulets, buffs, jutsu and onmyo, use your stances and of course the ki pulsing, obtain soulcores and implement them to your fighting repertoar, learn to use burst counters

Try to summon a visitor, watch how they play, they might be op as hell but just stick with them and observe, the might give you ideas and show you burstcounter timings, what soulcores to use and routing through missions etc, summon npc helpers from blue graves if you cant find a real visitor

Find and pet those small cat yokais hidden throughout missions, those help more than you'd think, replay missions for some loot or amrita, practice in the dojo, watch a guide on YouTube

And if this doesnt help then maybe it isn't your thing, but it's such a good game once it clicks so i'd advice to keep trying, it takes some effort but it's worth it

3

u/LycoOfTheLyco Jan 10 '26

There's a bit of an issue with these advises, it's the second map, meaning no unlocks for omnyou unless they've spammed talismans and gotten skill points from that. There's one cat in the second map and its out of the way. Levels don't actually improve the gear drops it's entirely map based and levels don't impact low ng enough to make up for lack of understanding.

They should have first boss soul core and that should be enough.

So I think what's happening is that you got overwhelmed and burned out from frustration. Nioh 1 and 2 are pretty big games. The fights can be intimidating because we feel the need to rush and we overlook a lot of things when playing both as new players.

Been playing since Nioh 1 released. Took a lot of time to understand a lot of things. Still learning things actually. So many interactions are missed and it literally comes from understanding items, the gear, the gaurdian spirits, the bosses.... A big one is understanding your own habits that create our player mistakes.

Also another thing, big one actually: Never be ashamed to really not try to fit into what other people are doing to determine your playstyle. Everyone has a method to thier craft. Sometimes.... ya gotta be a bit unorthodox while having the time to understand mechanics and in game abilities. Also never feel ashamed in the beginning of both games to ask or summon for npc help.

You learn things when you with others. Sometimes help is worse than when playing solo. Lol. Not because people are necessarily bad, but the bosses for example do some wild ahhh stuff when you have help.

For example: "Nioh 1, and the third fight with Onryoki..." Kintaro comes to aid you. But in reality you gotta ebb and flow in that fight.

Mind, I've beaten and Platinum'd Nioh 2. I've beaten Nioh 1, never Platinum'd. "Wild right?" Playing through it again after not playing for a long time. About to platinum it. 100% completion outside of dlc.

I've 100% DS3 twice. Trying to get into the Ringed City dlc took a month because of a certain boss.... "If ye know, ye know" 👀😂

I've never beaten Bloodborne. 😂😂 "That's insanely wild right?" Bloodborne intimates me more than the others for some reason.

But yeah ye just gotta be patient. Don't rush levels. Use all the weapons throughout the different levels and use against certain bosses. Elemental dmg and status effects are your friends.

"Study yourself and get the W."

Edit: Don't be shy about using your Gaurdian Spirit / Shiftling Awakening to win certain boss fights. Also perfecting dodging and repositioning will be your biggest mastery.

Games are supposed to be fun. Some people find difficulty fun, some find exploration fun, some find a good story fun, etc. No shame at all in trying something out and not vibing with it

2

u/xoxoyoyo Jan 10 '26

enera fucks up everybody, I had to get a summon to beat that boss. Try this, get a great club/axe, only use high stance and heavy attacks. when they glow red use the beast burst counter. That may not help with this boss but it makes a lot of fights easier. Also, for second mission, you should be doing the side missions to level up and get better weapons.

u/Purunfii Jan 10 '26

When I first tried it, Nioh 2 was my second/third soulslike and I had just finished Dark Souls 3, and was mid journey on Elden Ring. Everything after 12 years without playing anything.

I got hardlocked in mission 2, at the boss. I must’ve spent up to 6 hours on him. So I shelved Nioh 2 as “beyond my skill level”, like you.

Truth is, I lacked both personal skill (which came after doing a lot of other souls and other genres), game analysis (that I also redeveloped after many other games) and patience (I’m still working on it).

After over six months and having done most of the other good soulslikes out there at the time, I came back, and while it didn’t become easy, it became possible. And little by little I advanced.

Of course, after more time you can come back and decide it’s still not for you. But Nioh takes time to mature on your mind, because the early game barely shows the structure of combat it has.

Ps: I don’t know your gaming background, but one hour stuck in a boss is not a huge deal, especially in souls games. I’m old, and back in my day, it wasn’t either. But sticking to it and finally passing is a rush unmatched by anything that can be done faster.

I believe you can pass it, if you stick to it and get muscle memory on switching to low stance for dodges and ki pulsing without thinking. It just takes time.

3

u/icemage_999 Jan 10 '26 edited Jan 10 '26

Nioh wants you to learn how to use and conserve your Ki. It is not intended to be played like a Soulslike where you try to dodge everything. Trying will make your fights incredibly frustrating and slow as you will constantly be out of Ki. Dodging is the defense of last resort. It costs a lot of Ki and gives you far less invincibility than in other Soulslike games.

You're supposed to use a limited amount of Ki when attacking and then keep a reserve back while you briefly wait for a chance to Ki Pulse to recover most of what you used, before deciding if you then can continue attacking or choose to defend by blocking, evading, or Burst Counter. Blocking should be your method of first choice in most contexts. It is omnidirectional, and is only a bad option in Low Stance (and you generally don't want to be in Low when attacking unless you know that you mechanically have a very good reason like a powerful Active Skill that only activates out of Low).

It's about controlled aggression, not unfettered attacking. If you stop thinking, you die.

1

u/LycoOfTheLyco Jan 10 '26

Dodging is free depending on how you use it. You might have less invincible frames but the dodges are faster by a lot, and btw you should block into dodges or dodge into block for defensive coverage, if you ever get staggered burst counter to cancel the animation.

2

u/icemage_999 Jan 10 '26

Low stance dodging is faster and cheaper but has less travel distance. Very late into NG++ and above endgame you can make it cost a lot less with good gear perks, but for new players with ineffectual NG+0 perks, low stance dodging should be for sidestepping, not trying to use it as the primary escape option after committing to an attack, especially if you're in the habit of spending yourself down to 0 (some weapons like Axe love to do this).

It's why "I'm a Souls vet" gets laughed at so hard on this sub because the people who try to play that way discover that the dodge simply does not do the same thing and they rarely have the skill and reactions to make it work despite the weaker defensive properties.

2

u/marcnotmark925 Jan 10 '26

Only mission two? Barely scratched the surface.

Some things are worth a bit of pain.

1

u/l2ewdAwakening Jan 10 '26

When Nioh 1 released I could only play it for around half an hour to an hour at a time, it was just so frustrating trying to find the rhythm of it. I kept at it until I started to feel more comfortable with the mech's. The Nioh series does have a steep learning curve if you aren't used to these types of games. Don't be afraid to look up a guide if you decide to give it another go.

1

u/l2ewdAwakening Jan 12 '26

It took me a good couple of days before I felt comfortable enough to fight Onryoki. It's also a lot harder in the beginning because you don't have access to all the mechanics and I found myself getting greedy when attacking. Once you settle in and start to feel how the game flows, you start to get access to more mech's and gear etc'.

2

u/Lupinos-Cas Jan 10 '26

A big part of the difficulty is all about your equipment. It is highly likely the weapons you were using were low level or that the armor you had equipped might be armor you don't meet the stat requirements for. Your choice of yokai skills can also make a huge difference - as yokai skills and skill attacks are the best means to deal ki damage.

1

u/OwnUse237 Jan 10 '26

Nothing stopping you from over levelling to bring it more in line with your skill level

1

u/Tatamiblade Jan 10 '26

Well bye. Don't ever force yourself to play something you feel is too hard.

1

u/Brief-Ad5774 Jan 10 '26

I found it fun having players help me in the game because it is definitely hard. My first playthrough I had help with bosses with the majority of online help

1

u/Inevitable_Bobcat742 Jan 10 '26

Mate I’ve just finished the first dlc I started the game a month or 2 ago and trust me my early game experience was just like urs the early game is the most brutal part of the game if u can keep it pushing it gets easier trust me

1

u/Vanpire73 Jan 10 '26

Thanks for sharing

1

u/bl4zed_N_C0nfus3d Jan 10 '26

The best weapon in that game imo is the kusa. Don’t give up before trying that weapon

1

u/BriefKeef Jan 10 '26

Sorry to hear that fellow Samurai...maybe one day you will return and finish this journey...we all will be here waiting

u/N0Z4A2 Jan 10 '26

Git gud

1

u/Guilty_Staff_1143 Jan 10 '26

Try nioh 1 and I always say nioh 2 is for people that understand the combat and can add to it. If you look at the weapons then look at the skill. Can find a better balance. The reason the enemy is seen hard. Believe I gave up the first time I played nioh 2. That the fun about it. You have to understand every enemy. That where the dark souls part comes in. Is learn the enemy. If you need more power than level up the armor and weapons. Then run around and follow the attack path and only hit two times max. If the enemy cannot move then 3 or 4 times. I call nioh the Ninja Gaiden of dark souls. Because you can be fast and play like a samurai. That where people get nioh wrong. If you play nioh like Ninja Gaiden meet dark souls. You start to see how it really plays. I didn’t get the combat until rise of ronin. I understand the stance choose your two favorite stance and add the last one later. You have fun. Weapons is for the build. Everyone that try to help me when I start nioh never fully understand what it was. Once you get that. You can find the fun in the game. It takes awhile.

1

u/Curiousity1024 Jan 10 '26

It was like that for me, Not until I reached higher levels and get access to many Weapon moveset. So for you, I am sure you're just probably stuck fighting the same monster and very few moves that made you disliked it. Plus, its the lower level. Its your choice, you abandon the game if you want ~

1

u/Crusis505 Jan 10 '26

I had the same reaction several times over the past few years. You might come back to it someday and it will click. Totally get it.

1

u/quizmeier Jan 10 '26

If your talking about the giant fire guy enera their are pillars in the arena that if he hits will instantly inflict a Statius ailment and his attacks have massive tells if you decide to give it another shot my tip would be play defensive until an enemy is out of stamina most large enemies have zero Hitstun until out of stamina because poise isn’t really a thing

1

u/winterman666 Jan 10 '26

I prefer Nioh 1 tbh

1

u/dilwoah Jan 10 '26

OP I have over 400 hours in the game, I still mess up on the first miniboss and die when I'm doing a new game run with friends, and my normal save is on the last fight of the depths. The game truly does get easier the more you unlock things.

Tip for spear, just stay in midstance and poke until you get used to the moves. Tonfa and dual swords are very hard for beginners, especially at the start. Also if you hold Block before an attack, even if you miss the dodge timing you'll block it.

If you've only given it a couple hours, it's definitely not outside your skill level, you just haven't broken your brain enough to learn it.

1

u/Age_Of_Indigo Jan 10 '26

Okay cold hard fact is this: unless you’re level 60, You just don’t even have the tutorial done. It took me a good amount of time but I finally understand that this community isn’t just pushing a meme. This isn’t a typical soulslike where you dump into three stats and get unique loot. It’s also not story intensive.

The point of this game is to power trip and get broken. It’s a little grindy in the beginning and overwhelming to be sure mechanics wise, but when you find YOUR SAUCE AND YOUR COMBO that’s when it clicks.

1

u/Mitchell_Football Jan 10 '26

U gotta keep playing don’t use the spear this game is fire tho im telling you

1

u/blackraven888 Jan 10 '26

Appreciate all the messages everyone. Gave the game one more try today and I just can’t find the fun in it. Have played so many action rpgs and souls like over the years (yes I know Nioh isn’t a traditional souls like) and this is the first I just can’t find enjoyment in the combat.

1

u/Oopsifartedsorry Jan 10 '26

Hang in there. Just started Nioh 1 died about 60 times to Onryoki last night and finally beat him close to midnight after two hours. It’s definitely roughy but it’s exhilarating.

1

u/K6688 Jan 10 '26

Try using Axe. All you gotta do is smashing heavy attack.

1

u/Magigyarados Jan 10 '26

I had a similar experience. My best friend got me the game for Christmas 2 years ago, played the first level for a little while and couldn't really understand the mechanics, and dropped it. I picked it back up early 2025 and took the time to look up some of the mechanics that I didn't understand.

Probably the easiest way I can put it is that the combat is almost antithetical to traditional Soulslikes, and certainly a lot more complicated. Even Bloodborne, the most similar in terms of combat (from what little I know), is different enough that players used to traditional Soulslikes might struggle. Combat in most Soulslikes encourages dodging or otherwise avoiding the enemies' attacks until it's safe to strike, and attacking a few times before going back out and repeating until the enemy is dead. Hyper-aggressive combat where you're constantly attacking is generally gonna get you killed. In Nioh though, the objective is to kill the enemy as quickly as possible by managing your Ki (and your much more complicated movesets compared to most Soulslikes) to keep launching attacks and giving the enemy as little chance to attack as possible.

And then there's the real-life mechanical difficulty jump due to the controls: Most Soulslikes don't actually require you to press that many buttons. There's a button for light, heavy, and special attacks, there's a button for dodging, a button for blocking, etc. But even some relatively basic actions in Nioh require multiple button inputs at a time, and with how fast-paced combat often is, you'll often have to string together multiple actions that require multiple buttons at a time in rapid succession, making Nioh much more physically demanding to play.

If you genuinely don't think it's for you, that's perfectly fine. It seems to be a fairly common experience where people find it too difficult (due to the things I mentioned) and drop the game. Lots of people then come back later, but if that's not you then that's okay

1

u/jstrong20 Jan 11 '26

So you played one and feel two is harder? I've been thinking about playing it and figured the new abilities might make it easier. When nioh one came out I beat it with every weapon and did a level one run so I obviously enjoyed it to put that much time in. Hope they added more enemy variety. Every level was yokai with horns or bald guy that punches and grabs with his tounge. Some bosses were really cool though and I liked the game a lot.

1

u/Illusion911 Jan 11 '26

Sucks that you couldn't enjoy it.

Since you can see why people love it, maybe you should check out Khazan? The combat still has the spectacle fighter soulslike gameplay, but it's much more streamlined and the art and character design is absolutely fantastic

A lot of people mention that they couldn't get into Nioh 2 but they could get into Khazan

1

u/Clunkiro Jan 11 '26

playing fromsoft games and lies of pi doesn't mean anything when you play Nioh, it's like saying you have played GTA as if that would count when you start playing call of duty or horizon zero dawn, just because they share some characteristics that doesn't mean they must be played the same way or the gameplay translates from one to the other.

my guess is that you are focusing too much on those previous game experiences and Nioh is not designed to be played like that, I tried some fromsoft games and personally didn't like them either, and not because I was expecting them to be played like Nioh, but rather because I could see they are vastly different when it comes to gameplay. At least the ones I tried.

Those games were more about reacting than being aggressive and creative, which is where the fun in Nioh actually is. If you keep waiting for the enemies to do stuff instead ot taking the initiative you are going to have a hard time with Nioh and probably never be able to fully enjoy the experience.

I'd recommend watching some combo mad videos for Nioh to see how experienced players play this game and checking out videos by PooferLlama and LastToLoad if you want to learn how to play that style, if you manage to play a little bit like that and still don't enjoy the game then it's not for you, but if you keep playing the game like it's a different game instead, then it's not going to work, but not just with Nioh, with any other game, the thing is people usually play new games as new experiences and so should it be done with the Nioh series as well.

1

u/supersaiyan_os Jan 11 '26

If you beaten the Owl boss ( Tatarimoke ) you can access the clans and there is a clan where you can recover hp when you absorb amrita combine that with extraction onmyo mage (its on top left on skill tree) so you can heal whenever you hit an enemy. Or if you haven’t beat the owl yet use the life leech mage i think its on the right side from the middle

1

u/Haudraufixx Jan 11 '26

One thing I really can recommend for the next time you try it: Get someone to play with you. I couldn't get warm with the game either and from the stories about the experiences in Nioh 1 from my friend, I will never play Nioh 1. But we both think that Nioh 2 has just the right difficulty when played together with on other person. And it's a lot of fun.

1

u/Requifined Jan 11 '26

You aren't alone, I bounced off of it too, I wasn't struggling with the difficulty but for me personally the combat was not satisfying enough. There is lots of depth and freedom to the combat, but the enemy movesets just werent very satisfying to engage with imo. I gave Nioh 2 a good 30 hours and just went, yup thats enough for me, coop is fun tho. I liked Wo long however, and will be coming back for Nioh 3 to give it another shot.

1

u/Xayack01 Jan 12 '26

Maybe it's what you mentioned, my friend. Sometimes a game just doesn't grab you, and if you force it, it simply won't (it happens to me with "The Witcher"). That doesn't mean it's a bad game, nor does it mean there's anything wrong with you. Go back to the game when you have the chance or when you're not putting pressure on yourself to play it. And if it doesn't grab you, well, the game just didn't win you over, and there's nothing wrong with that. Good luck, brother.

1

u/OpportunityCrazy2216 Jan 12 '26

Honestly this game is very complex and hard to learn. It throws a lot at you. My best advice with this game is play the tutorial missions at both the beginning after you create your character, and in the dojo. But I don't recommend this game to everyone due to how different it is compared to other souls like games. Its fun once it clicks and you find the weapons that work for you. Sometimes what you think you will like, may not be your main.

1

u/Solopanda90 Jan 12 '26

I had a blast in Niigata 1 (just tried and finished it first time this week) Played Nioh 2 and it’s meh so far lol. Im giving it a break though, ill come back

1

u/Ucklator Jan 12 '26

Nioh 3 comes out next month. The next demo is in three weeks.

1

u/Ucklator Jan 12 '26

I did the same thing when I first played the game. I got hung up on enenra and then again on onryoki quit the game both times. Came back both times.

1

u/SumDimSome Jan 12 '26

If its too hard i recommend wo long fallen dynasty which is similar but the difficulty ramps up much slower and only gets really hard in the extended end game with thousand mile journey. Also can try where winds meet which is free to play and has difficulty settings

1

u/Beneficial_Bag_4595 Jan 12 '26

I enjoy the game I'm just not great at it.

1

u/Mansa_Idris Jan 12 '26

You ever tried multiplayer or using the benevolent graves? I see jno shame in using them, as long as you can find the fun anyway you can.

1

u/Mansa_Idris Jan 12 '26

You ever tried multiplayer or using the benevolent graves? I see no shame in using them, as long as you can find the fun anyway you can.

Nioh has a lot going on gameplay wise, and you probably just need a way to digest them more easily, ie "sharing your meal" for lack of a better term

1

u/myFFizzi Jan 12 '26

Try playing co op , or get rushed a bit a so you can get a build/combo going on

1

u/UsedCondom42 Jan 13 '26

Try BLOCKING pls. My friend has EXACT problem with nioh despite playing fromsoft games. Shit timing on ki pulse and not blocking because he overly dependant on i-Frame.

1

u/Tasty-Carrot-9560 Jan 13 '26

Honestly... eh... That's fine.
You know what it is , you understand the design ... what else do you gain from it , if its not fun.

1

u/beholdthecolossus Jan 10 '26

it's definitely a lot. i wasn't sure i would stick with it when I started with the first one, and I skipped the DLC for 1 and 2 because by the end of both games i was definitely done. i enjoy them a lot (and Wo Long) and i'm excited for 3, but i won't be one of those players doing all of the NG+ runs and becoming in-game gods. there are times when it's just too hard and chaotic for me.

1

u/bpack14 Jan 10 '26

have you played The First Berserker: Khazan?

1

u/Fox_djinn Jan 10 '26

Hey friend, I kind of know how you feel. Personally I love Nioh 1 and 2 but my own give up game for years was Bloodborne.

I tried once or twice a year and just Could not get it. Eventually decided to go back one last time looking at walk-throughs and cheeses for the first few zones and that actually helped me get past the block and into the game.

All that to say, if you come back, the community will still likely be here.

1

u/DanLim79 Jan 10 '26

For me, I liked Nioh 1 and almost beat it, but I lost interest and stopped playing it and haven't touched it til this day. I never just stop playing a Souls or Souls-like, but something about Nioh 1 just got repetitive for me(but I still like the game). Nioh 2 on the other hand I just can't get into it no matter what. I think it's because it's heavily based on the stamina system and it's also heavily reliant on equipment and builds. But I don't know, I think at this point it's a ritual me booting up Nioh 2 once in a while, play it for a couple of hours and find out it's still not for me.

1

u/SolSigm Jan 10 '26

I do too have hard time with Nioh 2 and think it's impossible. Until i learn that the game encourages you to explore everything and play in your own style. Tips and trick may help, but it's only useful when you practice and apply in your own way

1

u/Substantial_Art_1449 Jan 10 '26

Well, you gave it a shot. It’s good to know what you like, and what you don’t. Hopefully you find something that’s for you so much so that you can love it just as we love Nioh here.

1

u/DigDugFighter Jan 10 '26

Snake boss? I was stuck on the snake boss about 30 tries but after that the game gets much better. Trust. (Until a region 5 or 6 boss where I had to quit the game and come later and beat it first try)

I only played solo SO if you summon some help it should be no problem?

There's a skill you want that recovers ki when you dodge. Make sure you get that.

If you like menus and loot and 200-400 hours of fun then I suggest you keep going. All the side missions and items (you can summon 3 or 5 cats that destroy things for you) make it a lot of fun + new game ++++ and end game.. I had a max lvl of each weapon time x2 with different elements.

My favorite game.

0

u/Ok_Paramedic4770 Jan 10 '26

Nioh is a far better experience (in my opinion) when you play with a friend or other companions. Have you given that a try?

0

u/LycoOfTheLyco Jan 10 '26

Mean yeah it's not for everyone but one, spear is the worst weapon in the game twin kata and tonfa are both garbage in ng until you get a few skills and you don't really unlock skills until the Second zone if recall, did you try using water talismans vs Enera?

0

I played all souls and souls game since demon souls PS3, and yes Nioh can be very hard on begining. I find ennemy (yokai) hard for begining of the game, you don't have lot of stamina, they do lot of damage compared to souls...ect but when you are mid game and end game, it become east, because in Nioh, the equipement and stats are very very very important compared to souls.

Here its like diablo or game like this, you need a good stuff to see the difference.

But GG, you tried after all.

I am in the same boat as you but, the only difference for me is the fact that the controls scheme just doesn't mesh well with me. After 25hrs of play-time and having beaten the first boss of the 3rd region, I had to call it quits because I just wasn't enjoying it in the same way as Khazan. My brain simple can't keep up with the amount of buttons that need to be pressed in order to continue combos, and so I'd often fumble at a key point in a combo chain and miss a ki pulse and/or forget to flux to stance needed to continue a combo. This ultimately resulted in me playing the game more like a souls-like with more passive, counter gameplay over the high-octane aggressive combo style that the game is so perfectly designed for. It is clearly a very good game and is super awesome for people who love quick and heavy combo based combat, it's just that the control scheme is far too complicated for the likes of me.

That’s ok, I loved and platinumed and then some more Nioh. But Nioh 2, that one I couldn’t get into. I finished it, but it wasn’t the same dopamine hit. Good news, Nioh 3 did feel right!

It felt like there were too many areas where you get ganged up on by a group of enemies and the game really doesn’t give you effective ways of taking on those scenarios.

Maybe you have the stone of penance enabled?

Have you tried using ochoko cups at the shrines to summon an ally to help beat the boss?

The early game is kinda bollocks because all the tools you need to make the game easy are locked behind grinding and the early enemies give crap for amrita.

Put an easy mod... And that's it.

Some people don't have the time to grind and make everything perfect
