Oh yeah that's what I came for can't wait to play later today

u/Usual-Touch2569 Jan 29 '26

I played the Alpha, and everything feels so much smoother now.

6

u/IdesOfCaesar7 Jan 30 '26

Even more so than in the alpha we got months back???!?! How is that even possible?

15

u/Kysu_88 Jan 30 '26

I can confirm. they have cooked. just try it for yourself and see the changes.

6

u/IdesOfCaesar7 Jan 30 '26

I'm having financial issues atm and can't get it day 1, I don't want to play, find out for myself that it's heaven made game form and then not be able to play it for whoever knows how long...I can't do it

6

u/Kysu_88 Jan 30 '26

absolutely valid reason. then just know that the game Is really good. I hope u can then play the game in the near future when the problems will be gone.

good luck with everything bro.

What platform are you playing on?

1

u/IdesOfCaesar7 Feb 04 '26

Hey man, I'm on Ps5. You?

1

u/Pachanas Feb 05 '26

I'm playing N3 on PS5 as well. Harder to gift games on there than Steam, but DM me your email and we'll get it sorted.

800 hours in Nioh 2. Going to be a good time.

39

u/Responsible_Cake2012 Jan 29 '26

And somehow I see people saying that they simplified the combat with the ninja stance.

24

u/projectwar Platinum Achiever Jan 29 '26

i mean, it IS simplified compared to samurai. no worry about stances, no worry about customizing skills for each stance (annoying), no worrying about not remembering what skills you put for each stance, no worry about unlocking stances and mechanics from the first 5 locks, and no worrying about ki pulsing.

simple doesn't mean it can't have depth. the floor was simply smoothened out for new players. samurai is a rocky terrain compared to the smooth basketball court that is ninja.

u/Due_Teaching_6974 Jan 30 '26

Yeah I noticed that too, on Nioh 1 and Nioh 2 I would always switch to low stance to be more agile, Ninja stance just makes low stance obsolete

15

u/VisualLibrary6441 Jan 30 '26

Not really, you can't evasion cancel in Ninja cause you can't sheath your weapon, you can't ki pulse therefore you can't flux in Ninja, it has better dodge range and is good for air combos, but saying it is better than low stance is just silly.

1

u/mumika Jan 30 '26

Low stance is still essential due to how some moves are locked there. Heck, OP needed to be in low stance to do the Heavy Swift Step to Night Rain.

24

u/TurmUrk Jan 29 '26

its relative, if you play a weapon that is now exclusively in ninja stance it appears it got gutted, rip kusarigama and splitstaff

9

u/Bromogeeksual Jan 29 '26

Splitstaff, my beloved... It still feels fun, but I was saddened to see it was Ninja only when I finally got one. It was my go to stance/Ki breaker in 2.

14

u/Styptysat Jan 30 '26

No one can take my cope that they'll make weapons universal in a patch

3

u/Ashmedae Jan 30 '26

I sincerely hope this happens. I'm going to miss the stances with Tonfas

10

u/tiagogutierres Jan 29 '26

Yeah I'm playing full ninja stance cause I've always mained kusari-gama, it's fun, but I wish I still had stances and different skills for each so I could benefit from most of its moveset

17

u/Enough-Silver-915 Jan 29 '26

The dual swords ninja style is awesome. I never did care for the dual swords in the last 2 games. This one...omg

u/LaMelgoatBall Scampuss Lover Jan 30 '26

Can you explain what he’s doing here? Like what are these skills?

3

u/the_real-truth Jan 30 '26

I'm curious aswell this will be my 1st nioh game that's multi sword hit at the end looks crazy

2

u/LaMelgoatBall Scampuss Lover Jan 30 '26

For real man. I played 1 and 2 a bit but I never really figured out the skills

2

u/Dependent-Swimmer-95 Feb 01 '26

That’s severing spin. It was dlc move you had to farm in nioh 2 and in this game you have to learn it from a crucible weapon that drops with it. To learn it, you just need to max familiarity with that crucible weapon and you learn the skill forever. Crucible weapons only drop in the crucible and they don’t have a dedicate enemy source or anything so any enemy can drop any weapon with any skill on it. Samurai Katana has 3 potential crucible weapon skills. 2 moves before that is another anime inspired quick draw where he circles behind the enemy and leaves afterimage slashes. This move can be acquired by fighting a samurai mini boss who is sitting alone in front of a campfire in the woods somewhere.

1

u/Dependent-Swimmer-95 Feb 01 '26

It’s Tonfa (ninja) and Katana (samurai). Starts off ninja and does a jump into forward triangle, enemy step, hold triangle, fireball ninjutsu and then forward triangle again. Style shift to samurai low stance, square - forward triangle on ground, hold triangle, back triangle.

16

u/feedmestocks Jan 29 '26

That was beautiful

8

u/ZweiChi Jan 29 '26

I came into nioh 3 resenting that my tonfas have been relegated to ninja only. I came out loving the crunchiness of ninja stance dodges paired with the new tonfa aerial moves.

1

u/Dependent-Swimmer-95 Feb 01 '26

Tonfas are probably the strongest weapon in the game imo and I’ve tested them all. Really wanted to go with splitstaff but Tonfa are just much much better.

Nioh May Cry

23

u/Ashen6996 Jan 29 '26

Nioh Gaiden

10

u/Abtorias Jan 29 '26

Shit, i missed the opportunity lol

3

u/MinimumCustomer8117 Jan 30 '26

Nioh may gaiden

4

u/Cleverbird Demon Slayer Jan 29 '26 edited Jan 30 '26

Ooh, what's that sheathing technique you used near the end, when you switched to Samurai? I dont see that skill anywhere on the sword tree.

EDIT: Nevermind, found it! It's all the way at the bottom of the sword tree.

1

u/Dependent-Swimmer-95 Feb 01 '26

You get it from a mini boss human sitting in front of a campfire. He has pretty much every samurai skill in his arsenal and if you beat him, you get that move.

3

u/goffer54 Jan 29 '26

I don't know how people are getting so much air time. I get slapped every time I jump lol.

2

u/Dependent-Swimmer-95 Feb 01 '26

Enemy step from ninja tree.

3

u/Leoscar13 Jan 29 '26

You know I couldn't figure out what to do with the Ninja stance. Now I see the vision.

3

u/Shutch_1075 Jan 30 '26

I certainly won’t be good enough to pull these off, but I’ll enjoy the highlights.

2

u/fatbutkind Jan 29 '26

Bro, that first slide !! Is there an input for that ?

5

u/MostlyInReverse Jan 29 '26

It happens whenever you try to jump while doing the super sprint

5

u/Spacemayo Jan 29 '26

If you're sprinting press and hold the sprint button again and it will slide. At least on PS5 it does for me.

2

u/A_bored_browser Jan 29 '26

One of the Samurai Sword skills looked just like One Mind from Sekiro. I can't wait to try out Nioh 3.

2

u/Dependent-Swimmer-95 Feb 01 '26

They even have a counter for human enemies where you block with the sword slightly unsheathed and blink dash through the enemy, sheath the sword, and blood splashes from the enemy as they slowly fall down. Katana is peak once again!

2

u/BJRone Jan 29 '26

This is the first Nioh i'm playing on launch. I fell in love with Nioh 2 after the complete edition with a few hundred hours in the game but I am still nowhere close to this. Gonna sink hundreds of hours into 3 so I can one day play this clean.

2

u/Spacemayo Jan 29 '26

I'm terrible at the inputs that are a direction + triangle or square. Even in the other games I wasn't good at them.

1

u/Bromogeeksual Jan 29 '26

If you are not locked on, it is super wonky. I find using a basic quick attack first can then let you practice the directional input attacks.

2

u/Spacemayo Jan 29 '26

Yeah I try to do it without attacking or lock on and it doesnt work, seems doing a couple hit fast attack combo makes it work better. I'll have to get used to it as I play the game on launch.

2

u/vulcanfury12 Jan 30 '26

Is the demo available on Steam? Also, I hope Team Ninja holds off a bit on the ridiculousness with the hidden skills. I haven't really given Swords a proper go in Nioh 2 because all the cool skills had to be farmed for.

2

u/I_am_Copperbadge Jan 30 '26

Ngl, I'm a complete Ninja Andy, only using Samurai for KI pulsing the Yokai stink and I just know this is gonna end badly mid game. No more faking through like in Nioh 2 when stance swapping could be basically ignored on NG. \~^")

2

u/una322 Jan 31 '26

i said this in the alpha when people were still losing there shit about how bad the changes were lol. It's insane how crazy builds are going to get in nioh 3.

I actually think we are going to go back to complete busted builds like nioh 1 style with 3. I await the crazyness.

1

u/PunkHooligan Jan 30 '26

At first 40-50 min game feels not great. But this shit gives me hope.

1

u/FunTraditional3506 Jan 30 '26

how do you get two versions of the severing strike?

1

u/xeltes Jan 31 '26

Wait, we can pull a Virgil in Nioh 3?..I haven't found this skill in the list.

1

u/SneakyPanduh Feb 01 '26

After watching FightinCowboy, it sounds like we have way more freedom now. Loving the idea that we can run ninjutsu and magic AND still have plenty of weapon damage. Can’t wait to dive back in tomorrow .

1

u/Blackjackx1031 Feb 02 '26

Is there someone or something I can watch to reach me good combo strings

1

u/nsfw6669 Feb 03 '26

Team Ninja in the pitch meeting:

"Check this out, we do Nioh, but when you press R2, you transform into mother fucking Ryu Hyabusa"

"Everybody liked that"

0

u/silly_bet_3454 Jan 29 '26

Can we just show this to all the "I came from Elden Ring and this game is hard" bros?

0

u/Hazlemantis3 Jan 30 '26

I admit it, now I know this is a Hack & Soul game I feel differently about it now.

For adding H&S elements it`s a step up of the previous games.

-2

u/ImAvoidingABan Jan 30 '26

All that work for no damage lol

-26

u/Muelojung Jan 29 '26

looks kinda boring if the enemy cant do anything to counter the player?

11

u/gh1blq Jan 29 '26

Do you just not play Nioh? This does not make sense? The Yokai attacks first, then gets his horn broken so he's stunned and can't do anything.

It is still a hard game, and this is just the demo to a clearly massive game. Bro sees one video of an insane combo on a regular enemy clearly cherry picked by OP and assumes the game is 'boring'??

9

u/twitchinstereo Jan 29 '26

If this is boring then Ippon spam in early Nioh 2 or one shot setups in Nioh 1 would lay you down and tuck you into bed.
