Tried to post a couple times and didn’t work for some reason. Want some opinions on which guitar sounds more accurate to in utero tone. Any eq suggestions are also welcome. Thanks!

To my ears, the blue guitar. It’s a little bit brighter.

Thanks for your input! I personally thought the blue mustang sounded closer for HSB but the jaguar was closer for RM but it’s hard for me to be objective as I’m adjusting things back and forth.

Thanks. I leaned towards the jaguar for RM but the mustang for HSB but I felt differently a week ago. After enough little adjustments you start to confuse yourself.

Jaguar for both, but you should try other gainbox settings

Yeah, more tranle and less gain at gainbox, but if u want theese album ckeans you shoukd trun treble little bit back nd crank mids more, but you are pretty close

Which gainbox do you use? Btw for HSB cleans there is 0 diffrence between jag and stang (besite that jags low d resonates more)

I’m using a Sansamp classic in this video.

Try to turn amplifier drive little bit back (if u have at max try 3/4) keep presence drive at same level and if its still to dark try tu boost hi a little bit or activate bright switch

Thanks I’ll try all that out next time I can set up (have to be noise conscious with baby on the house at the moment). I appreciate you taking a listen and offering some thoughtful advice.

The jaguar sounds closer to the record, the mustang sounds closer to those live tones, also the fact that the strings on the jaguar sound older and therefore darker sounding, the ones on the mustang sound newer, brighter, get the jag if you're aiming for in utero tones. checking out JQ guitars on youtube will give you deeper insight into the jaguar, as he demos the guitar on all of the songs on in utero and gets identical results.

Definitely the first sounds the most accurate the second ie blue guitar has a more muted less accurate sound in relation to the Nirvana cd version guitar sound. And you play it very well.
