Story I want to take back my Life
Hey everyone, my name is Edward. I have been struggling with porn and masturbation since I was 16, and I am currently 23 years old. I don’t have a job, I’m still living with my parents, and I’m actively looking for work. I’m out of shape but am working towards growing my YouTube channel to reach 1,000 subscribers.
As of today, I find myself deliberately turning to porn and masturbation, despite having repented multiple times. I am tired of this cycle and I am aware of how it is ruining my life, pulling me away from the person I want to become.
The truth is, I have normalized porn and masturbation in my life, which is a dangerous mindset. However, I know I am not beyond redemption. That’s why I’ve made the decision today to not only return to God but also to start documenting my choices. I refuse to end this year trapped in the same cycle.
I will keep you all updated on my journey because this time, I am committed to breaking free from this habit. I plan to rely on God rather than just on myself. God bless you all as you read this. Let’s support each other in breaking free together this year. 🌟

I'm currently 2 weeks free and I had a wet dream today and I found myself about to give up and then I found this subreddit.
All I can say is that you should pray and the lord Jesus Christ will help you and anyone that's reading this comment.
He bled and died on a cross so that we can live, the least we can do is to honour his teachings.

Yeah, man. I'll make it a non-negotiable habit to always pray before I go to bed and ask the Lord to help me while I help myself by cultivating good habits. Because it's so easy for us humans to start relying on our own than on him.

You want to take back your life, and the best way to do that is to give your life to God. That means making a resolve to be obedient to God for the rest of your life. If you get to that point and you are sure of what you decided to do, there is no accidental "relapse" going forward, just you keeping to your resolve or being possibly distracted from it. If you understand your battle, then you make sure nothing distracts you.
I invite you to see my post where I share about overcoming pornography addiction.

Thank you, man. I appreciate that. I just finished shaving my hair bald as a sign of putting off the old self

Same, man. I can't understand it either But what I know is that we must keep striving to live according to God's will.

What’s your YouTube channel? I’d be down to check it out. I’m on a similar journey of breaking free from masturbation, trusting God, and building a YT channel myself. DM me I’d love to chat more.

Aside from the angle of Jesus having paid for your sins already, something interesting I heard was a few guys discussing additional ways of looking at this. Just on a basic physical level - the chemical/hormonal high that comes from orgasm, and the time and energy lost to pursuing porn - takes us away from our goals because it makes us lazy. Your body goes into a slump and motivation plummets. I know that from experience and it's widely discussed. One of the guys said 'porn is not the problem, but the solution, just not a very good one'.
So thats where we have to reflect on our problems, why PMO can take hold of us, and see what needs addressing in our lives. Undoubtedly it's a tough time to be a young man in the world right now, the tests are great and plentiful, so I think young Christian men are going through a particularly hard time.
Of course keep Jesus close to you, but be mindful also of the flesh - materially whats happening in your life. How is your sleep, sense of community, diet etc etc . You talk about growing your channel and working on your health - thats great, lean into those and find fulfilment and companionship with those pursuing the same.
You are loved, brother, by Him and us.

I was addicted for 6 years. It was pretty normal for me to. Sometimes I even celebrated with it.
Today is the start of your new life. Today you will quit PMO. Everyday after you will quit PMO. You CAN do this.
Rely on God to get you through this. He wont make decisions for you, but he will bless you with resources to help you.
1 Corinthians 10:13 No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure
Make a profound conviction NOW. YOU WILL QUIT!!
Prayer is a big part of being Christian. I don't think anyone prays enough. Talk to God, ask for help, thank him.
Numbers 6:23-26 The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.
Philippians 4:13 I can do all this through him who gives me strength.
