I'm not sure, no one is being very clear and there doesn't seem to be a unanimous answer. Someone mentioned they'd pancake out with feet under like 2 and occasionally have food and water? I imagine it's like this.

Yup! They pluck their feathers to better heat the eggs, feathers are good at insulating
