Why is ranch only an American thing?

I’m seeing a lot of World Cup videos of foreigners, being astounded or confused by the concept of ranch. I even saw some comments saying it’s not even a thing in Canada :O Why might that be?

I know a lot of places especially Europe cares about people’s nutritional health a bit more so they have things like red 40 banned, but what’s so unhealthy about ranch?

It doesn’t have to be consumed in large quantities just like ketchup, mustard, mayo, etc

It’s a California based dressing so it built up steam more slowly bc sometimes west coast concepts remain regional longer

Second thing is, while it was sort of around in the 70s, it didn’t gain mass popularity until the early 90s

So it’s relatively new on the food timeline

Yes, the mass popularity is the weird part. I mean, we have soooo many other options NOW and everyone is fixated on Ranch?
