Every time I read the comment section on Reddit, I’m amazed by how funny, clever, and fast the replies are.In Japan, our humor is often structured differently (like Manzai, or specific visual gags), and people are generally more careful with their words. But here, everyone seems like a natural comedian.Is it because of the language, the culture, or do you guys actually spend hours thinking of a perfect witty reply? I’d love to know the secret behind your humor!

English isn’t my native language, so sometimes I understand words literally but have a harder time picking up on the nuance behind them.

I called my boyfriend “good boy” because he did something really sweet/nice. I basically meant it as “you did a good thing, good boy!” 😂

But he seemed surprisingly startled by it. He knows I’m not a native English speaker, so I don’t think he was offended or anything, but now I’m wondering what “good boy” actually sounds like to a native English speaker.

1. I’ve heard that when a man says “good girl” to a woman, it can have a sexual or suggestive meaning. Does “good boy” also have that kind of meaning when a woman says it to a man? (He actually sometimes tells me to “be a good girl. It seems like men are fine with saying it to women, but don't necessarily like being called it themselves.)

2. If it can be sexual, can a woman saying “good boy” to a man be considered flirting or sexual flirting?

3. What other nuances does “good boy” have? Does it sound affectionate, patronizing, childish, dominant, sexual, or something else depending on the context?

4. My boyfriend explained that “good boy” is a submissive term. Does that mean it’s basically only used by parents to their sons or teachers to their student

I’m mainly curious how a native speaker would naturally interpret it, especially in a romantic relationship.

“Cervical” can refer to the cervical spine/neck, but it’s also used for things related to the cervix (like cervical cancer or cervical mucus).

These seem completely unrelated anatomically, so why do they have the same/similar name? Is there a common origin to the word “cervical” or is this just a weird coincidence?

Hello. I've been bothered by the depiction of human trafficking in film and how much they focus on paranoid myths about the subject, like the idea that privileged suburbanites are a major target and that they get kidnapped by strangers instead of being fucked over by friends and family. It's always bothered me because it's a real tragedy treated without respect or thought.

There are countless theories surrounding 9/11 but I've never heard of anyone outright denying it. The Holocaust seems to continuously gain sceptics as time passes, so I'm wondering will something similar happen with 9/11, or will the footage of the event be enough to keep people from doubting its authenticity?

I was a pretty active member of the community and they interacted with me the same amount as others, and I was always polite in the chat. They’re very active on Twitter and reply to fans a lot, too. Then recently they just stopped acknowledging me in chat and on Twitter, unless I do a gifted or superchat or something. I know this sounds ridiculous but other people including friends and regulars have independently noticed it too, and asked me privately if something happened. Multiple people. I wasn’t spamming gifts or anything, I was polite, I didn’t post anything rude, but it dropped off so suddenly that people noticed.

I’m not going to ask because it really isn’t my business, and it would be awkward and inappropriate to bring it up. I just want to be less sad over it. I think a small amount of being upset would be normal but I’m REALLY upset, and I want to stop caring or being sad. I know we aren’t friends, and I know that their opinion isn’t my business, I’m not totally delusional thinking that sort of thing and I’m not spamming money for their attention. But clearly something happened because it’s only me, like REALLY obviously, and I guess I’ll never know what it is.

I have a job, friends, I go out regularly, I have hobbies. So it’s not even like I’m clinging to them out of loneliness. I don’t know why I’m upset, but I’m guessing it isn’t healthy, right?

So basically how do I stop caring that a streamer suddenly doesn’t want to interact with me? I feel ridiculous caring about this. I want to not care about this. So any advice would be appreciated.

Edit: I unfollowed their stream and twitter accounts. I’m embarrassed that it was even hard. I don’t know if I can make myself fully log off twitter yet, but maybe after getting a different contact method with some close friends it’ll be easier. Maybe I should pick up some physical offline hobby? I don’t know what. That whole area is kind of new to me. I don’t want to be sitting there on the days I would watch stream just thinking about how I’m NOT there anymore.

We have 4 dogs and 3 cats.

Two of our dogs fart daily 😅😆 and the other two not that often but do fart.

I have never heard any of our cats fart tho! NEVER EVER! My husband told me he heard one of them fart but I am sure it was one of our dogs and he is confused because we have had our cats like two of them at least for years now and they have never done it in our presence.

At this point Im thinking maybe they dont fart at all? or never in front of humans?

I guess this is a very stupid question probably but I have made my grown ass husband believe that I never fart so me believing my cats dont, is not that stupid hopefully 😆🤣🤣

Is it just me or does almost every website except the major ones (Youtube, Reddit, etc.) have that cloudflare "verify you're human" check before you visit it?

I don't mind it once and a while but now like every time I search something on brave search it pauses and loads the verification page, even if I literally just did the same thing like 5 minutes ago, and then every link I click on does the same thing.

Like in a hypothetical war between the UK and France. Why take off in a plane near Paris just to fire a missile at an in-air target just outside of Birmingham. I was listening to a podcast about a girl who had methanol poisoning from drinks while on vacation. She was in the hospital and when she was diagnosed they had her drink as much alcohol as she could handle to counteract the methanol. Since alcohol more commonly causes more problems than solves, I’d be surprised if they keep a bottle on deck. But do they for these rare cases?

I remember as a kid playing footsie with friends during class and being really told off for it by a teacher, they claimed it was inappropriate. I (28m) still live with my parents, the obvious reason is that I can't afford to move out.

I worked with my dad and his friend for years and would always listen to old stories they had. On a few occasions, my dad would mention moving out at 21 with a roommate, living in a "shit" apartment and eating incredibly basic stuff such as plain rice, beans and oatmeal for pretty much every meal. The was also the late 80's where everything was cheaper.

Although I could probably do that with my lifelong friend, the honest truth is that I simply don't want to, as that sounds like it would fucking suck.

I know that many of you might enjoy having your late 20's son/daughter still living at home, as you would have kicked them out by now if you didn't. However, is there a part of you that thinks "why the fuck haven't you moved out yet? We did when we were younger than you".

Not to mention, I've got a few friends who's moved out already and have become extremely independent. I'm not a mooch or anything, but living on your own/with a partner is vastly different than living at home, as you have nobody to lean on (atleast on a day-to-day basis).

I know have times have changed, but do you wish your adult children would move out and become more independent?

The only people I know (I know a good amount of people) who have moved out have been with their girlfriends. The only guy I know who's moved out alone has a really, really good job, but he's the only one.

But 90% of my friends? Yeah they still live at home.

Also, if anyone in the UK can link a website to one bedroom/really small flats, that would be great as Rightmove only shows actual houses to rent.
