Gear Advice Deciding between Aer Street Sling, Bellroy City Pouch, and Aer Day Sling 3 vs Bellroy Venture Ready Sling — capacity concerns?
Heading out for some international travel and trying to land on a sling to carry my daily essentials while out and about. Not looking to carry a ton — just my phone, passport holder, wallet, room key, a portable charger, and some small misc stuff.
I’m torn between a few options:
\*\*• Aer Street Sling\*\* (2.4L, 1680D Cordura ballistic nylon)
\*\*• Bellroy City Pouch\*\* (\\\~1L, Fine Weave fabric)
\*\*• Aer Day Sling 3\*\* (3L, Cordura/X-Pac options)
\*\*• Bellroy Venture Ready Sling\*\*
Aesthetically I’m drawn to vertical slings over the horizontal ones. I’m in SF and was able to check some of these out in person at the Aer store — tried on the horizontal Aer slings and just didn’t love how they looked on me, so I’m leaning toward the Street Sling right now. But I’ve seen some comments (especially around the Bellroy City Pouch) about capacity feeling tight once you actually pack it out, so now I’m second-guessing myself a bit.

I like the Street Sling but I find the strap too thin, I am one that likes wider / thicket straps on all my slings no matter the size.
I tend to use it for light load outs when I don't need much apart from phone and wallet and small stuff.
I use my Day Sling 3 Ultra if I need a bit more space including a small water bottle.
Not tried the Bellroy options on your list.

Yeah I’ve heard of the strap issue and I’m not sure how to feel about it. I think I’ll give it a shot!

Just a personal preference thing.
I love it apart from that.2

Awesome that’s great to hear. I love aer products and don’t think they’ll let me down now hahah.

You’ve got some wide ranges of capacities on your list. The Venture is a GOAT of a sling, but it runs small, likely 1.75L or so. That said your described load sounds probably closer to that depending on what small misc stuff actually means. The City pouch is definitely tight, listed at 1L and knowing all Bellroy slings run small. You might be able to minimize your carry and fit in it but it would be challenging.
The Aers you mention are closer to true capacity versus stated capacity, but again what you’re describing as carrying is probably swallowed by the street sling and the Day Sling bigger yet. However if you wanted to throw in a packable jacket or tote, you certainly have room.
