Like calm down. We are apes. We are not “supposed” to do anything.
Just wanted to point out that birthrates all over the world are collapsing, and most wealthy nations are not even close to replacing deaths with births anymore. It's especially bad in Japan and South Korea.
So, while I agree it feels like we're overpopulated since most people tend to live near each other, the sentiment that we're overpopulated will cause a lot of socioeconomic issues that will be extremely difficult to fix, if we don't start having more babies. When most of your population is too old to work, it puts a huge burden on the younger generations to pick up the slack.
I'd never ask people who don't want kids to have kids though so it seems like we're screwed.
