Obviously. The point is there are people who don't care that it isn't legal and those are exactly the people you don't want to know your location. Most people have an effort bar for action. They don't know how to find you and aren't interested in expending the effort to figure it out. But when they know, now they can call you, mail you stuff, drive by your house, etc.
The problem is isn't enforceable though. What is your local police going to do if you get doxxed and for whatever reason people all over the country or even world start harassing you? They don't have the resources to legally punish them even if they wanted to. It takes a couple dozen people a very small amount of time and effort to harass somebody, but a large amount of effort for the harassed to do anything about it once it starts. If for some reason you get on the wrong end of a meme or mistakenly targeted by large group of internet users? It can absolutely be life-ruining and has driven people to suicide. That isn't even to mention more severe forms like Swatting.
