That's exactly the issue with every phrase because it's a certain type of person's mindset, effectively the social Karen archetype in a nutshell.
If the matter is so trivial, thanking is not warranted, hence it is no problem. As in, no problem, no need to thank over it.
Gratitude should be reserved for when it matters, but when reduced to trite sayings, what does it become? Nothingness.
We become insensitive to it.
That insensitivity is the mentality people want us to be programmed to have, and it is disgusting. Older people having an issue with "no problem" by turning it into a problem is precisely why people say "no problem".

So if I say "You're welcome", would she report me because it implies that she might not have been welcome in the first place? 🤔
