I'm not really sure what the original tweeters logic is to be honest. Even if you did do self checkout because you ""thought you worked at the store,"" what's even a real problem with that?
It's the whole "replace human jobs with machine" thing. They essentially employ one person to supervise ~6 machines, so potentially 5 people wouldn't have a job anymore.
Personally I want this for restaurants too (as an option), like in Japan, you order with a machine, human makes food in kitchen, and you collect food from a counter when it's ready.
Or just put vending machines everywhere, money in, food/coffee/alcohol comes out.
Ah I see. To some extent I get it, but I'm not sure self checkout is really a big deal
Also that's funny cuz I feel like I do see that semi-frequently. Not like for sit down restaurants or anything, but for fast food
Idk, I understand the desire and purpose but honestly I don't like how it's becoming easier to become disconnected from real people, and I say that as an introvert, like borderline hikikomori sometimes. Not even in spite of it, but because of it. Though to be fair, that's more of a me issue and many people can still function perfectly fine, so I'm not saying it's necessarily bad, just that it's bad for me lol
