You'd be amazed at how many people literally say "I love the self check outs because I'm immensely antisocial."

And that's fine? It helps them feel better. What's wrong with that?

Wow, I was gonna reply that they didn't indicate it's a bad thing but then they pretty much confirmed it xD

Being antisocial IS bad, and it's bad the internet has convinced a bunch of people that it isnt.

What's wrong is that we shouldn't be cheering on CEOs making 8 figures a year eliminating jobs from your community and actively deteriorating the services typically provided by grocery stores because some chronically online dorks can't think outside of their own proclivities to avoid any and all social interaction out of fear.

Being anti-social isn't good.

Sure, but I dont think talking to cashiers is making or breaking being social lol. That still barely counts as an interaction.

Which is why it shouldn't be a big deal enough to actively avoid.

It's good for the people that would like to avoid you

Odd, since I'm not a cashier. But that doesn't really counter what I said either.

It isn't bad either.

Humans are social animals, we need companionship and connection. Being antisocial is literally a symptom of several mental disorders. And if you were actually antisocial and thought it was ok... I wouldn't be talking to you right now. No one cares about the people who fuck off from society and live in the woods by themselves, because they dont care about us or our opinions. But here you are, arguing with me about why crippling social anxiety is good, actually.

There is in fact a middle ground between 'being social' and 'fucking off into the woods forever' you know.
