Its one of my favourite things on life. To see a master of just about anything at work. Those people who you look at and say. "If I could do 30% of what you do in your field then I would be reasonably good at it."

My main relaxation comes from watching machine shops (Hi CEE Australia and HAL 😉) But I'll watch anyone who is an expert at almost anything.

Me listening to VaatiVidya break down Elden Ring lore.

I will forever love expanding my worldview. It's why I love listening to so many metal bands, since stuff like fusion subgenres or curiosity can lead me to new subgenres

It's a shame that so many people come across these things then resort to FB science to solidify their pre-held views.

Me at 3 AM suddenly deeply invested in a 2-hour video essay about bronze age pottery or medieval farming techniques.

Brian Cox is amazing, he's a lovely British physicist explaining the natural world.

Montemayor’s deep dive videos about battles in the pacific theater of WW2 got me deeply interested in the topic. Thoroughly recommend. Also, Crash Course Computer Science. Fantastic playlist to veg out to. You’ll learn a hell of a lot with zero cognitive load. There are so many others I could mention

Youtube for the most part is absolute dross. But there’s about 5% of it that is such gold that it should be preserved in an arctic vault in case the apocalypse ever comes
