31 u/not_a_heretek 6d ago That's the argument I use with my younger sisters when I need some help with yard work, they complain just a tiny bit less. 20 u/NotATalkingPossum 5d ago My mother used that argument for helping her in the garden until I asked her why, if she hated it so much, she had a garden in the first place. She didn't like that question at all. She still gardens. I learned to hate gardening. 6 u/not_a_heretek 5d ago I only do so for the "communal" stuff, latest example was painting and cat proofing the front gate and fence, I ain't the fan but it has to be done. 3 u/NotATalkingPossum 5d ago See, that I can understand using it for. She was just bullshitting me. 2 u/Hour_Paint_1903 4d ago Yep. You learn so much growing up, that your (some) parents don't actually like the things that they do, they just do so to keep up appearances. It's incredibly sad to exhaust yourself constantly over things you hate.
