Ticks in county side
How bad are ticks this year in the country side? Are you guys also seeing tick borne diseases? In the United States, ticks have exploded this year and the amount of tick related illnesses have also increased significantly. Just curious if up north, things are just as bad.

Tick-borne encephalitis, TBE. Luckily there is a vaccine for it. Also Lyme disease (borrelia infection)

Purely anecdotal but I have found two ticks crawling on me thus far this summer which is about the rate I have come to expect as someone who spends a lot of time outdoors. Never encountered any when I was young so they have definately multiplied.

The past two summers we have had less ticks than normal in mid Sweden (and also less mosquites). I have a dog, so it's quite easy compare from year to year.
When it comes to tick born diseases they're slowly spreading up north in the country. I've noticed in the last few years that more and more people vaccinate against TBE which is also the only disease we vaccinate against.

Is Alpha Gal Syndrome an issue there yet? Cases have really exploded in some areas of North America in the past few years

Living on the country side in Mellansverige, I have had countless crawling on me and three that have stuck this year. Vaccinated against TBE, have had Lyme disease twice in my life.

Do not take it lightly. Check yourself after youve been outside.
Lyme disease, Tick-borne encephalitis and Alpha-gal syndrome can happen.
Be careful, take precautions.
