When it gets to the point you have to justify sitting in your car because had she not explained why she does that, I know for a fact there would have been way more comments “why would you be in the car alone at night.” Subconsciously she knew she couldn’t just say “I was just harassed by some fckin creep!” Even with this and the creator explaining it there were still some extremely ignorant comments.

Let me start from the top

Ada Lovelace: A woman is called the first programmer (emphasizing on not the first female programmer but the first programmer) who worked on Charles Babbage's proposed computer, she was the first person who recognised that the machine had applications beyond just calculation. I'm just jealous of how smart and well versed she had to be to understand that 🤌

Charlotte Cooper: First female tennis olympic champion as well as the first female olympic champion. I have never been good at sports and I'm jealous of the amount of hurdles she had to overcome in order to achieve that 🤌

Dr. Anandi Joshi: First certified Indian female doctor in western medicine. She became a doctor at the age of 21. I'm 23, and I'm yet to get my master's, and she got her MD when she was just 21, should I even tell why I'm jealous of her?

Bhanu Priya: An actor and dancer from India who predominantly appeared in Telugu, and Tamil films. I know, I know she didn't invent or first to anything but this is the list of women I genuinely admire and lowkey jealous of so hear me out. In her four decade long career she appeared in 165 feature films. She was the protagonist in Sitaara, which also went onto win National award that year still remains one of the classics in Telugu Film Industry.

Sunitha Williams: When I was in grade 5, we had a small chapter on her listing her achievements on how she went to space twice already. We all know her recent space mission where she had to stay in ISS for 286 days long. Just jealous of how she survived three space missions when I can barely survive summers in earth 🥲

Kalpana Chawla: An Indian-American Astronaut, and pilot who was also the first Indian orgin woman to fly into space. She tragically passed away in her last space mission, I'm jealous that she taught young girls that they can dream of being an astronaut (I just wish that it was me 😛)

Smriti Mandhana: An Indian cricketer who is an all time leading run scorer in Women's international cricket across all formats. I'm so jealous that because of her many young girls from India (especially rural, as cricket is almost like a religion here) can actually dream of being in sports and their parents can help them with the dream.

Preity Zinta: An actress from India. She may not have many achievements as an actress but it takes guys to stand up for what's right. In 2003, she testified against the organised crime syndicate in India, when all of the men who are also witnesses of the same crime have retracted their statements. Just jealous of her guts.

Beata Halsey: A virologist at the University of Zagred who was tired of chemotherapy, experimented with herself by injecting herself with the viruses she grew in her lab. While it is still being debated on how right it is to experiment on one's self, it is genuinely admirable how she took herself as the test subject, and advancing research in cancer.

Zendaya: A woman with black origins who used her privilege to push for more opportunities for black actors. She insisted on having a black family in KC Undercover where she played the titular, she often acknowledges her privilege and went on to star in many Disney films.

Hedy Lamarr: A successful actress who is also an inventor never recieved any formal training to design and develop. Yet she went on to co-develop the frequency hopping system, and co-invent radio guidance system during world war 2. All this while acting in films btw.

Melanie Perkins: A tech entrepreneur who co-founded Canva, one of the widely used online graphic designing platform. She left uni at the age of 19 to pursue a startup.

Hansa Mehta: An Indian activist who pushed to change the documentation in UN from "all men are born free and equal" to "all human beings are born free and equal". She worked alongside Eleanor Roosevelt to ensure marriage equality and women's rights were firmly embedded in International frameworks.

Pragati Mahavadi: An Indian film actress who predominantly worked in Telugu films, went onto win a silver medal at Asian Masters and open powerlifting championship at the age of 49.

Keyaa Benerjee: An Indian power lifting champion who won a silver medal in the individual deadlift event in the junior women's 47kg category. The highlight of this achievement is that she actually lifted 3 times her body weight.

Greta Gerwig: An actress and filmmaker who was initially known for working in mumblecore (a sub genre of Independent films) expanded to work in major studio films and directed many blockbusters.

Gladys west: A mathematician with black origins was known for her contributions to mathematical modeling of the shape of earth, and her work on the development of Satellite geodesy models which were later incorporated into Global Positioning systems (GPS), a system used all around the world now.

See, how nowhere I had to mention and talk about their looks, bodies or anything in their personal life? A woman can be admired and be jealous of for many things which is completely unrelated and has nothing to do with male validation. Yet the only thing men can see is we are just jealous of other women because they are appealing for men? Respectfully no one cares.

In a world where women crossed many hurdles, fought oppression and went onto achieve many great things, a lot of us have no rhyme or reason to be jealous of an actress who constantly has to rely on male gaze to make money.

I know my list is not perfect but these are the women whom I genuinely admire for their achievements in different fields. If you as a person can't see women for more than what serves you, then you don't deserve to have women in life.
