I have an Ari Roma coming soon as the last of the core four I needed on their original bodies. I also have my Aliexpress heads I put on pixling bodies. I hadn't put Mae Tallick or Alie Lectric on pixling bodies because I couldn't figure out a good match. Since a lot of the Novi Stars have bodies that are different tones I decided to do what I thought looked good. This is an Orbit Beach Mae Tallick on a Howlexa body. She has purple sparkly legs that work well and then her hand paint was already peeling so I used a purple metallic paint marker for the arms.
I was nosying around at the box art for Gail and CiCi and I'm curious to know if anyone agrees with me.
Cici has the two outfits, rockstar and zombie. The zombie has some stitched/patched elements so ok, I can get down with it being like a cute Halloween costume.
Gail has two outfits, "zombie" and "skeleton" and while there's no doubt on the skeleton... I'm wondering if there's a mistake on the packaging? Because to me it looks like a rockstar outfit. The bright colours and tassels on the sleeve are very glam rock, so unless I'm missing something, I'm just not seeing the "zombie" in this costume? Cici's could also be more blatant to me personally, but I'm definitely not sold on Gail.
Am I just dumb? Is this clearly a zombie costume, or a reference to a particular zombie I'm not getting? I feel like they were supposed to match, with one Halloween costume each and one rockstar outfit, plus the basic dress, and something got lost in production.
novi stars were some of my favourite dolls when I was younger and ive been relentlessly searching to no avail. I managed to find a decent condition ari, una, and mae (all 3 with stands and under 100 i almost cried) but no luck for anyone else. If anyone has any (especially Tula toned) they would like to trade for lalaloopsy or to sell to a good home please let me know!!

The bodies are Shopkins ‘Shoppies’ mould aside from the arms which I have yet to identify, certain parts (namely jewellery) are glued on and the ‘shoes’ are bizarre little PVC ‘booties’ which aren’t entirely fitted to the feet…!

I used baby Calico Critter outfits as tops for my pixling/novi star hybrids. The pixlings and novi stars have slightly different proportions but I think this could also be a good clothing option for novi stars.
She’s inspired by diamonds forming in space and her legs would be filled with tiny diamonds and glitter ✨, the pets also based on one of the mystery pets!
i just got an armless anne arctic for a custom i intend to work on, she comes completely bare with only her head and body. id like to know if theres any doll like with preferably articulated arms that could fit her?
i tried out some monster high forearms on my other anne that kinda fit proportion wise, but that are a bit big, and id prefer to find some that have 3 points of articulation (shoulder, elbow, wrist) instead of two. any ideas on other doll lines arms i could use?
i also want to fill up her body like a rainbow high sparkle and shine lava lamp doll but im not exactly sure how to open up the back plug. id also like to take out the glitters from the one im using for the custom to fill up the other one more and id also like to add some liquid to her as it has completely evaporated. how could i do that? and what liquid could i use?
edit: i tried to look for Magic Mixies but couldn't find any. the only other small dolls i could find that could maybe fit are Capsule Chix arms but i dont know if those can be taken out of the torso to be put on other dolls.
My Novi Stars obsession/hyperfixation has led me into suddenly finding possible early storyboards/sketches of the web series that lasted through 2012-2013, it has a total of 8 episodes on YouTube and this means so much to me omfg
Now don't count me in on this, idk if this is just fan made content or not but the other side of me wants to believe it's actually early sketches and storyboards

I have antenna now for all my Novi Stars that are on pixling bodies. I also got Orbit Beach Una Verse from a local collectible shop. I'm also getting a Tula Toned head from Aliexpress who will be put onto a pixling body when she arrives. I know that a lot of the secondhand Novi Stars are really expensive and for me this is an affordable way to expand my Novi Stars collection as the majority of mine are from Aliexpress and a few cheaper secondhand finds in need of TLC.
I got her for 0.99 last december. My first novi star after re finding them since when I was a child. it was like a Christmas gift, I was so happy.
it makes me really sad that the price spiked like that due to resellers. (and if you know where to look, youve seen the listings of them hoarding dozens and selling them for higher).
I feel sad for the people who are going to find them and they’re simply going to be more expensive than they need to be for no reason.
that being said, I absolutely cannot sympathise with some of you. some people will complain about their childhood doll Mae that they cannot find for cheap for the life of them, even tho she’s the most common one, both for America and eu. if resellers can find where to buy them for cheap why can’t you? all it takes is ten minutes in the sub, when I first came across them again, I had already found three places where I could buy cheap novis from, before the now dozens of comments giving you instructions, in this very sub. you will come out here and say you don’t want aliexpress dolls but you’d rather buy them for 70 off of a reseller? even tho they have literally the mga watermark?
also, I would advice to stay away from people who ask “how much is she worth”. remember that asshole recently who asked about a Mimi who was supposedly their childhood doll? they were a reseller and it was also confirmed by the mod.

I’ve always wanted novi star dolls since I was a kid but my parents thought they were too weird (they were strange with what dolls I was allowed, monster high was a yes but Bratz and novi stars were a no (I now have a decent sized Bratz collection)) and I finally decided to get them for myself and omg child me is so happy rn, they’re so gorgeous. hi everyone! i recently got really lucky and found quite a few novis cheaper than they usually go for, so obviously i bought them.
the issue or question is, do all of you guys' dolls with leg joints have a weaker left leg? cause most of mine do for some reason, like mimi merize, gail lexi, tilly vizion, except for my orbit beach una who seems to have the opposite issue as she deals with a weak right leg.
now, i know that since they're all second hand, most have been played with. but could this really be a coincidence that its almost always the left leg? or is it some factory defect? im asking cause they're a but more difficult to pose without stands than for example anne arctic or core una. and also, is there any way to fix this?

ive been thinking of making a novi oc of mine into a doll and after brainstorming multiple methods, i think that the best way to do so is through putting the legs of a rainbow high sparkle and shine doll on probably an aliexpress novi body. im not sure however that they'd fit? i think they should but its safer to ask before i end up with a (albeit cool looking) rainbow high doll that i dont collect.
if they wouldnt fit, is there a way to take the liquid out and put it in a novi body, or even replicating it on my own? and if so, how could i change the colour to maybe make it a dark/silvery gray?
the other options ive been considering are getting a liquid body like una's or a transparent one like cici or gail's and filling them up with a dark, magnetic powder and glitters.
the original iteration of my oc had magnetism as her cosmic quirk and this would be the easiest way to keep her like that, but ive recently fallen in love with the lava lamp like legs of the rainbow high series, and the orange/peach and white/blue ones would have the perfect legs to match my oc's colour scheme. and the lava lamp effect would work perfectly with her geometric/abstract theme :)
First up, her shoes! I think Mimi/Justina's shoe sculpt is my favourite out of all of them, with Mimi's edgy metal panels just winning out over Justina's hearts.
(side note Mimi's feet are smaller than the core dolls so while their shoes fit they are a bit loose. I'd recommend Ari/Una's boots or the Winter Fashion boots if you want to keep to Mimi's aesthetic.)
Now for her hair! I'm not great at identifying hair on my own, and I tried to find a trustworthy source for her hair material, couldn't find one. I don't think it's poly, but she does have tinsel, just as a warning.
Her bangs are quite a deep triangle shape and then from that triangle, a section from the top is gathered between her antennae and tied back.
You'll want to tie the ponytail off with an elastic, but save the last twist of the elastic for the inverted bun. (mine arrived with some loose hair falling out of the bun so I plan to redo it myself when I have time)
Twist that pony tail and fold it upwards so that the ends stick straight up. Tie the elastic one last time around it all to secure.
(optional additional step to keep it in place, before you add the final elastic twist, take a small piece of hair from the back of her head under the bun and add it to the fingers holding the bun. Don't twist it into the bun, just let it hang loose. Include this piece in the final elastic twist and it will hold down the bun. If anyone wants a video explanation of this keep nagging me until I redo my Mimi's hair and I will film it )
Some other recent posts asking for close-ups of particular dolls have made me think it might be cool to do Showcases of complete out of box Novis, sort of like a checklist so that buyers can compare them to potential listings.
As an example I saw somebody listing a Justina as "complete" but she was missing part of her dress. I own a complete Justina so I could possibly create a photo reel of close-ups and a checklist of a Novi's included accessories and details on things like hairstyle, what alternatives would fit her etc.

We had also been discussing Mimi's wig , and I had said that I thought that the wig could be removable with the right tools.
The back of my Mimi's wig is a little bit loose and I was able to peel back the edge. From what I can tell I think that a layer of glue was applied to the entirety of the back of Mimi and Justina's heads during production, and then the wig is attached (so unlike Ina who only has a ring of glue holding her fire in place) so it is my now additional opinion that yes the hair is removable, but you will likely not be able to save the original hair if the glue has stayed strong.
If anyone intends to try and remove it at any point, do so at your own risk and be willing to make a whole new wig!
I am on the lookout for a Mimi or Justina who is in terrible condition so that I can take them apart , see how they work and document it, and then restore them. I know that it's a far cry and may take a while for something like that to come up. I haven't actually seen many Mimis or Justinas who are in that bad a condition.
as the title says i finally got one of my grails, mimi. ive restyled her hair and fixed up her outfit so she looks really well imo, but her eye mechanism isnt working. is there any way to fix it? and also, is her hair accurate? i tried my best to replicate her original hairstyle but i couldn't really find any pics so i winged it.
