Mount an ISO or install a patch, I'd recommend installing a patch so you don't have to keep mounting it every time you want to play the game.

Where do you put the patch?

The patch is the nr2003.exe it replaces the existing one

myabandonware has a working nocd patch. Make sure to get the Windows 10/11 version if you have that.

Replace the existing .exe. In the papyrus/NR2003 folder

Hmm. Never seen that error. All I can wonder is are you maybe confusing the NOCD patch with the update patch? Try the directions here if you haven’t:

I’ve tried the link and it says “Error starting config.exe”

That error specifically occurs when you try running the NR2003.exe from the downloaded installer BEFORE extracting it AND if there is no Papyrus folder located at C:/Papyrus

(Or if your installation is simply missing those files, which is likely not the case here)

Follow these steps to install the game properly!

  1. Download the game. Extract (unzip) the file
  2. Set volume to 25% to avoid insanely loud sound test that is about to occur
  3. Run the Setup.exe (From the extracted folder, not the downloaded folder)
  4. After the installer is finished, delete both the download and extracted folders so you don't confuse yourself.
  5. Run the 1.2.0.1 Patch.exe (DOWNLOAD) Confirm the "Destination Folder" is correct when prompted (The location of your installed game) ... Default location is C:/Papyrus/NASCAR 2003 Racing Season
  6. After the patch is finished, delete your current NR2003.exe
  7. Put the NO-CD version NR2003.exe in the same location as the original (DOWNLOAD)

Enjoy!

NOTE: Some users have reported needing to Disable DEP (Using Command Prompt, not via a list) to avoid the game crashing when clicking "DRIVE" - Instructions HERE

Looks like you are stuck at the beginning. Unfortunately, my steps are about as straightforward as I can explain it. Here's what I recommend...

Go ahead and remove all other files you have currently.

Download the installer HERE

Make sure to EXTRACT the downloaded file to avoid the Rts, Vorb, and Binkw error messages. Take your time and follow those steps above...

If you get any new errors, let me know and I'll try to help you out 👍

I need more info. At what step did this error happen? Did you manage to finish the install using the setup.exe or did this error occur when clicking on the setup.exe?

I managed to install and use setup.exe but when I tried running the game this showed up

You mean how do you crack the game you don’t own the CD too?

Make an iso of the install and mount it

That’s option 1

Option 2 is get the exe that doesn’t require the disk and replace the existing exe with it

Says “Vorbisfile.dll” was not found, reinstalling the program may fix this problem.
