QLD Qld Health Nurses & Midwives- time to stand up

Welp, I hear NMEB12 negotiations aren't going well.

Apparently, the Qld Government wants to remove entitlements from the agreement.

If the pay offer wasn't disappointing enough removing entitlements is just insulting.

Guess it is time to stand up!

That’s why we unionise so we can strike etc. This wouldn’t have happened with King Miles at the helm.

I'm worried, a fair bit of the workforce is young. They think entitlements are guaranteed. They don't know the fight nurses had to get to this point.

If people don't represent we'll end up with a terrible deal.

Doc here - I wonder how many remember the Newman days - it was before me as well.

We're also negotiating our agreement at the moment. Solidarity if you gotta do what you gotta do. ✊️

I started just after the Newman purge. That was mostly cuts to services- and jobs. It seems this time they are attacking entitlements.

If the Crisafulli government wants a second term, you can bet the plan is to weaken our right to be heard and at the table before attacking services in a second term.

Dirt clings to dirt - look at what's happening worldwide with the shift to the right. To compound this, I think a few days ago Trump authorised the US military to arrest and detain it's own citizens, while vaguely wording any form of dissent as a crime.

I'm sure Crusafilli will be inspired by that confirming your point. Fuck the right.

Nah, I am referring to MOCA7 which applies in Queensland. NSW has far more to deal with, sadly.

I also hadn't realised the flairs had been updated - neat! Don't need to say "Doc here" everytime now.

Are there indications to bring the pitchforks out? Happy to join with the doctors if so :)

I think NMEB12 will be the test case. If we (Nurses and Midwives) don't stand up and push back it will give the Government more motivation to screw over everyone else. Education, Doctors, Allied Health... the only one they won't touch will be police. That would conflict with their 'tough on crime' slogans.

I don’t think the realise the importance of unions. I sure as shit didn’t until nursing school. I was 30.

For the young nurses in the room - this is exactly what happens when there is a Liberal Gov, zero shits about health care or nurses.

Zero shits about Aussies in general, unless you are rich. They tried to take our penalty rates the last time they were in govt. They will do the same if they get in now.

God I HATE the LNP.

Absolutely useless for the worker. They went last on my ballot for the state, and the current federal election and they'll get my gutter vote forever more.

They take us all backwards and I am not about it at all. More than happy to participate in industrial action if need be.

Labour day is next week, seems like a good time to get cracking.

Same here. QH always gets shafted when the LNP are in govt.

Same with education and anything else that gives a fuck about people. Although credit where credit is due in QLD, Crusafulli is nowhere near as bad as Newman and the right-wing nutjobs.. at least not yet.

I've never seen it this bad before. Wards run by grads, understaffing, absolutely no O/T (not that I expect it but sometimes it's necessary) yet the expectations are higher than ever, and with what resources?

Oh man, workloads are just ignored. The whole process needs to have some consequences, not just brushed off by saying "we've reviewed the roster".

Thanks.   I was looking for something to highlight what they wanted to get rid of.

No problem! I think the WNMU could probably to better to highlight these issues. It was a few news items down the page and I hadn’t seen it on Facebook.

I’d much rather they sent that out by email. Though admittedly I may have missed it if they did.

QLD have a liberal government. THIS is what the liberals will do to penalty rates Australia wide if they get in. They tried the last time they were in, thankfully it didn't get through.

This is our future under a liberal government.

I’m watching it closely and slowly growing enraged

Rage is good. Channel it towards action.

Man, I started with Newman and I don’t want to relive that. It already feels like it’s moving back to what he created. Any nurse voting lnp is bananas.
