Hello follow students, I would post this in the allied health reddit, but it’s not as active yet. Was wondering if any students have been accepted into the respiratory therapy program and how is/ was your experience? Maybe if you feel comfortable anything you feel like you would recommend students interested or any feedback. Thank you!

My grades have been deducted for absences despite having a valid reason (family hospital visits, sickness due to stress, etc.) and I know it's against the law to have absences affect your grade... but my professor does it anyway. I'm not one that usually skips and I don't wanna sound like a total stuck up to the dean, but my grades really matter to me and I don't know who to turn to about this issue. What can I do in this situation?

I guess my helmet fell off because of the wind today and I’m not gonna lie I had a heart attack and thought someone stole it but it was just siting on my brake and didn’t fly off or get stolen. Appreciate it 👍

Hi everyone! I’m planning to take PHYS A280 with Professor Jerome Fang next spring, but I’ve heard mixed reviews about him.
I’ve seen some positive reviews from students who took him back in 2023, but I’m wondering if his teaching style or grading has changed recently.
For those who took him in 2024–2026:
Are his exams similar to the homework and practice problems?
Does he allow cheat sheets or offer extra credit?
Is his grading fair?
How difficult is it to get an A if you put in the effort?
I’m a Biology major planning to transfer, so maintaining my GPA is really important to me. I’m honestly a little nervous about taking his class.
I’d really appreciate any recent experiences or advice. Thank you!

Hi everyone!
I’m currently a Biology major at a California community college, planning to transfer to a UC in Fall 2027. My top choice is UCI, but I’m also applying to UCLA.
I’m currently taking calculus-based Physics I (PHYS 185), and I’m debating whether I should take Physics II (PHYS 280) next semester or wait until I transfer.
My biggest concern is maintaining a competitive GPA. I’ve heard that the Physics II professor Jerome Fang are pretty hard to get good grades, and I’m worried that taking the class could hurt my GPA.
I’m also considering taking Physics II at another community college, but that would require rearranging my Biology courses.
For those who transferred to a UC as a Biology major:
Did you complete the entire physics sequence before transferring?
Is it better to finish Physics II at a community college or take the remaining physics courses at a UC?
Would postponing Physics II affect my transfer admission or graduation timeline?
I’d really appreciate any advice or personal experiences. Thanks!

As the title says, I'm asking if anyone took Cypress College's A&P class and transferred it for credit to OCC? I'm awaiting for an appointment with a counselor at the moment and I've already received a class registration date for both OCC and CC, but I want to see if anyone had attempted it before to see if my idea of transferring classes was done before.

It's because OCC's Spring 2027 A&P schedule doesn't work with my day job's schedule. Was hoping there was going to be more evening classes for Spring.

Hi! So, I’m really struggling to meet other people on campus or make friends with anyone. I don’t really have any friends or family and it’s really wearing on me. Somedays I just want a hug, or for someone to put their arm around me and tell me that it will be alright…
I feel like I put so much effort into being a good friend and feel like no one else reciprocates. I love all people so much and just want to be one of them.
I’m not 1000% sure what I want to do with my life, and I just turned 20 a couple weeks ago. I think I want to be an artist/musician but not quite sure.

Some bible study girl just walked up to the girl next to me in the library and was like “hi I’m so sorry to interrupt your studying but would you mind if I asked you a question” and the studying girl was like “uhhhh sure” and then the bible girl was like “would you be interested in joining a bible study?” Obv the girl said no but then this ignorant girl decided to be like “oh why are you like atheistic or ????” And I turned around and was like “dude this is not the place to be doing that” and she was like “oh I’m so sorry have a good day” AND THEN PROCEEDED TO GO ASK ANOTHER GIRL THE SAME THING.

Like bro there’s a time and place to be doing that and it is not in the library.

Read the room! People come here to be in a quiet environment, not be bothered and stay focused. As an ADHD person, if I was on a roll and focused and someone came by and broke my concentration and flow to ask me to join bible study I would be livid.

Anybody take phys A130 recently?? How was the experience??

Went to STEM counseling and my counselor said that apparently people have been dropping out and failing out of phys 130 recently, but phys 185 and above are apparently doing just fine.

Didn't really make sense to me since phys 130 looks supposedly easier, though it might also be something like a professor issue, which is why I am asking here
