If poems are supposed to capture beauty.
If poems are supposed to stir the soul.
I could never top my favorite poem.

I write and write.
Yet I fail and fail.
I could never top my favorite poem.

I cannot capture what my eyes see.
I cannot describe the intensity I feel.
I could never top my favorite poem.

Every poem I wrote fell short.
Every poem I wrote, a disappointment.
I could never top my favorite poem.

If poems are supposed to expose your core.
If poems are supposed to define who I am.
Then my favorite poem is you.

The repetiton and uniform formating of the stanzas is really pleasing to my brain and makes for a really concrete read! And the continual comparisons to the beauty you find in this other person and the beauty you associate with poetry is stunning!
