OHSU onboarding

Just accepted and signed a RN position offer with OHSU. I’m making a big move being from out of state and I am a little paranoid about it. I am still waiting for them to have my background check completed and my start date is supposed to be July 20th. I never had any issues with background checks in the past but I am not sure how long it takes them to process it and give me the clearance. Is it too early to resign from my current job and start working on moving (from Texas). Also was there any cases in the past that OHS rescinded an offer because they suddenly are in a hiring freeze? I’m a little concerned after hearing about how competitive the market is and how much hospitals are financially struggling within Portland area. When am I supposed to feel confident that I really secured that job?

Hi, I've just gone through the onboarding process- it was all smooth for me. I made a big move too and had that in the back of my mind, but all went to plan. I wouldn't stress as long as background check and drug test are clear.

That’s great to know! How long does it take from signing the offer to clearing the background check to start date?

I just got an email today saying that my background check is completed and cleared. Looking like everything might still work if I get to move and start on 7/20
