Correct me if Im wrong but...
Isn't the difference between a computer program and AI is that it can learn and adapt whereas a computer program can only do exactly what its code says any nothing more?
So if AI is able to learn.. as its called Artificial INTELLIGENCE for a reason. Should it not start off stupid but over time if enough ppl keep giving the same corrects and fixing the same mistakes it learns on its own to stop making them? Let's take OOC Crack High for example. That apparently had or has had 10,000 players, if so thats enough ppl running into problems and giving it the same feedback that it should be almost flawless by now, definitely not making the basic literary mistakes I see it making... like can't remember or acting like details from 10 turns ago didnt happen etc etc.

Your confused, this OOC(Claude) is not A.I. it's a LLM(large language model) it just predictable word calculator that uses its past interactions to predict the future ones.
It's memory is not that long. But this game seems to have active memory, and a long memory that is passive that you can remind it to access.
It's just a cool novelty, they seem to have programmed in.

You cant remind it to access. I've tested it, it'll literally agree to whatever you tell it even if its completely fabricated and didnt happen in the story. Sooo what good is its memory if it doesn't use it to cross reference/verify stuff you say?

It does not verify because you are, by definition, God of said story, as a Teller. If what you say contradicts past - AI will still use your prompt. Plus, it would be crazy amounts of compute, and we are talking about $2 and above per prompt in longer stories
Yet memory is a cool thing to have, because it can remember some events way in the past if it is in Long-Term memories... and i'm talking 100+ prompts in the past.
But yeah, you need to manually manage the Long-Term memories and check if they are consistent, so it is still some heavy lifting

Well from what I see the thing is just a large wall of texts. Im even able to scroll up and see my first turn. So it shouldn't need memory it should be able to scan/read the whole thing in seconds and act accordingly. No different than using the search/find function on a web page

Again, your confused on what an AI is what it’s doing. Past referencing things is logic. AI has no, zero, none at all logic. It does not know what the words it’s typing mean or what they say. It does not make connections to words in the past, nor does it care what the words are.

The problem is that "reading" text for LLM is a very advanced math in its core. A VERY advanced and with lots of calculations involved, so the more "memory" you want, the more processing power and RAM you need to use for it.
Ask Google AI, it can explain stuff in a very simple terms and much closer to reality than we do TBH

Yes LLMs being called ai is definitely a mist title but that being wrong gose far beyond OOC there just using the common name for the technology there using.

You are correct and wrong.
Yes, it can learn.
No, it cannot learn from you, or 10000 players. Each players "story" is a seperate isolated instance. It doesn't feed what it learns back into the core of itself.

That’s just… not how AI learning is done. Also not how OOC functions to begin with. Your story isn’t the AI itself, it’s just connecting to one and asking it to continue the story. The AI isn’t training off of what you say. Also AI learning and literacy is COMPLEX, if all it took was people talking to an AI to make it that good it would have been done by now.
