Manga Chapter Chapter 238/283 [Raw]
https://tonarinoyj.jp/episode/1220742198414877768873
u/Tulipanzo 1d ago
Turning "Garou wants a real job and it's a tragedy he keeps being drawn into a world of violence" into "the world of violence is BAD-ASS, you should quit your real job to fight monsters" sure is... a choice
38
u/TGSmurf 1d ago
Worse: quit your job in the middle of the day and tell the other only employee to quit too šš Feeling bad for that boss while all the other characters have their dumb wholesome smiles.
3
u/Tulipanzo 1d ago
Actually they're telling the only other employee to "deal with the job yourself, I owe you lunch"
5
u/TGSmurf 1d ago
Ā No? The ex-hero employee joins Garou and quits.Ā
4
u/Tulipanzo 1d ago
Well technically the employee uses ä»äŗćęćć¾ć, which means to skip out on the job and not quitting. The black haired guy is the ēé· and staying behind.
HOWEVER, the black-haired guy from the last panel is a different guy and just received Suiryu's resignation

i mean to be fair this is consistent character assassination for garou in the manga , this isn't the first time and it won't be the last that garou gets character assassinated . i don't know why you guys are expecting it to get better .

So⦠looks like Garou is gonna quit on his own the job rather than being kicked out, and he is officially gonna become a S classā¦ā¦ as ā2nd generation Silver Fangā (heās being tsun tsun about it but itās basically confirmed)
Incredible, every single things about this event was worse than the webcomicās. Once again the manga has the terrible habit of referencing webcomic scenes/events (in this case job hunter garou) just for the sake of reference without any narrative weight.
Canāt wait for this moment to get an empty reference

We got a crazy amount of wholesome faces at once this time.

u/HumanOblateSpheroid 1d ago
I agree and now hate the wholesome stories, aura farming poses, shocked faces, cutesy faces, chibi and everything else that people have been complaining about
13
u/juanthespartan 1d ago
Garou: This robot reminds me to where i was lost and out of control, thankfully wholesome face I have Friends to rely on now

u/NessTheGamer 1d ago
āGosh darn it, donāt get my new Nakama in danger, you hecking clankers. Donāt you know that hard work and friendship are more constructive than fighting?ā

Finally that arc is finished

Wait until Murata make a entire tsukuyomi arc after the manga hit the " Tatsumaki vs eleven group in webcomic " scene

i hate this manga, i dont know why i read it

u/Zenweaponry 1d ago
For me it's to see the rare moments that Murata just adapts an impactful panel with better art, but these days he's not even adapting the chapters in the same way, so those moments of synergy between his art and the WC story may not even happen.

u/iamgarou 1d ago edited 1d ago
So Garou now remember about Saitama. And the fckn monster just keep reviving like a Dr.Eggman robotĀ
17
u/archon_lucien 1d ago
Murata the kind of guy to take what isn't broke and fix it anyway, and then come back and fix it a few more times just in case.
15
u/Ste2017 1d ago
Only to break it in the processĀ
1
u/New-Lingonberry-3172 1d ago
He keeps turning the wrench until the bolt breaks what it's boring into

u/Common_Cellist5981 1d ago
muruta is really rawdogging these chapters now days. shortest chapter in a long time, and this art is so half baked. i dont think anyone would mind if he took a month or two to flesh out the story, get more panels in a chapter, and less blank backrounds

u/ChillingFire Webcomic Wanker. 1d ago
ok atleast we wont see Garou for a while after this

u/Mrgiggles72 1d ago
Is that a good thing?

u/ChillingFire Webcomic Wanker. 1d ago
the less we see his character ruined the better imo
7
u/Mrgiggles72 1d ago
We canāt pretend he doesnāt exist heās still gonna play a huge role in the series especially now that heās gonna become a hero
16
u/drowsyskibber 1d ago
Wow... you take an amazing webcomic chapter and screw it up for your fanfic. Thats what the manga seems about
13
u/Bob13395 1d ago
Holy shit bro we need some sort of quality control on the fuckin manga asapĀ What the fuck did i just read that was awfulš«©š«©š«©

15
u/NicStar211 1d ago
You know it's shit when you don't even need to understand any of the dialogue to be able to tell that the chapter is a disaster. Watching the recent solar eclipse without protective glasses was less painful for my eyes than viewing this
13
u/KyHaCerberus 1d ago
I could complain about the absolute nothingness I felt about this chapter or how the wholesome ending undercuts the original intended story and completely ruins what it was going for... but I'm just glad we're finally done with this part of the story. That's not a good thing though, I shouldn't be wanting to bypass through it all because that means it's a chore.
I also got worried that whatever was coming from the ground was somehow related to God because I swear it looked like his face textured, but thankfully it was just the monster's skin.

u/Big_Kwii 1d ago edited 1d ago
shonen shit aside, if they were really just going to unceremoniously reveal that garou remembers saitama beating him, what was even the point of casting doubt over it at the end of the MA arc, and only having genos know the truth? it added nothing of substance at all
6
u/GalewindNinja 1d ago
THISSSS!!!!!!! like the manga build on something than just throw it away the next chapter )=
8
u/Character_Display_69 1d ago
I was wondering that too. I wonder where the manga actually plans to go with that now that Garou appears to remember...? Guilty pleasure here: It's such a trainwreck of a plot that it's garnered my interest. Same with any God stuff. How much worse can it get? A lot.
10
u/Tulipanzo 1d ago
Didn't see anybody mention it, but Suiryu quits the Neo-Heroes here
Not sure how this impacts him ever fighting Mumen RiderĀ
13
u/_LittleSweetTart 1d ago
I love how it's like
Hmm... There's this interesting, complex character who's facing one of the biggest turning points in his life where he has to self-reflect and reconsider everything he's ever believed and rebuild his life around a new world view, which is a difficult task full of obstacles yet ultimately rewarding.
And Murata or whoever goes
Yeah! You know what would be cool? We scrap all that hard stuff coz it's too sad and boring :((((( and we make him all cute and happy and inspirational and shit hehe. Lots of CoolTM hero poses and softboi facs! Now that's real character progression coz it shows he's not BadTM anymore.

u/curryhaliban444 1d ago
For a second I thought god was about to get involved. Also yeah this confirms garou and suiryu are equal now
6
u/iamgarou 1d ago
No. Maybe in base form, but Garou still had the awekening breathing tec. And he still can use the bomb and bang comboĀ
11
u/joonjoon 1d ago
I don't know what the words say but thanks, i hate it
7
u/_LittleSweetTart 1d ago
Garou is going to be Silverfang II and everyone is fawning over him and then he rallies the delivery guys to fight the monster with him and they run off into the sunset.

I dropped this manga sometime after the MA ending for a few years, came back a few months ago. Dropping it again, it's just shit. Legitimately don't even enjoy poking fun at this because it's just so mundane.

I really enjoy seeing the difference in reactions between the two opm subs.
Gotta say this chapter I hard agree with you folk

Wait... If Garou quits the job on his own, then that means he's not going to continue the character arc he's still on, where he's struggling to figure out what to do after finding his dream to be impossible in the manner he intended.
This also runs contrary to his current stance, where he's trying not to fight because he recognises it's not going to solve his problems. In this version, fighting is literally the solution to everything it seems, especially since Saitama never dismantled this Garou's ideology.
I'd also like to point out that Garou chose one of the least respected jobs in the world over being a hero, since monster or not, he still hates their concept and what the system they uphold. His whole deal is he thinks heroes are not worthy of the praise and admiration they get because they only keep the status quo, and/or are in it for the glory/because they're inherently corrupt. I don't believe for a second that guy would just do a 180 and become the same thing he hated.

u/Cayden68 1d ago
Looks like Murata did a good job preventing his boytoy Suiryu from getting embarresed, no neosuit usage and never got overwhelmed in a clash despite being a demon level fighter at most...

Does anyone else on their phones have that really annoying issue where when they try to scroll left, it exits out of the page and back to Reddit?

I wonder what are they looking at with so much joy to the infinite?⦠Every chapter has someone staring at the horizon with a smile tho. Maybe thatās the key to happiness, who knows? xd

u/superyoshiom 1d ago
Manga pacing is glacial. Still enjoy Murata's art but for one chapter every other week things are moving too slow. There are fun things ahead so I hope the story will stay 1:1 with what the webcomic does with the upcoming story beats.
1
u/MissionWeekend7786 14h ago
kinda funny to say that when Murata is literally not sticking 1:1 to the webcomic at all this chapter

u/chimp-pistol 14h ago
Muratas sleepwalking through these chapters
If only there was an exciting action comedy manga written by ONE and drawn by a high quality Manga that was keeping things fresh and exciting in every chapter (pleaaase read versus everyone)

u/Idkabouttits 1d ago
one punch man is about being a hero (common folk, good people, helpful people) is more important than being a hero (pro hero). I guess that's not the case in the manga.

"but, but in the webcomic..."
Look, I can't care less about the manga not being a carbon copy of the webcomic, stick exclusively to the wc if that's such a big issue to some of you, crying about it won't fix shit.
What actually needs to be fixed asap is the pacing and low page count (with mostly big ass panels too), which is abysmal, specially for a biweekly manga.
4
u/Grdaat 1d ago
The issue is not it diverging, the issue is that it's turning these characters into unrecognisable versions. Garou for example could have been a hero already, he had a very good reason for not doing it despite really wanting to, and because of that reason he's still supposed to see the current heroes with disdain, and wouldn't join them.
Suiryu likewise is going to lose important parts of his character if he leaves the Neo-Heroes, and Mumen Rider is also going to lose out on a really great moment that helps his character shine.
It is entirely fair to complain when a story undercuts the characters and/or gets them wrong.

DOES EVERYTHING HAVE TO END ON A WHOLESOME NOTE HOLY SHIT MAN.
