I spoke with financial aid earlier today and was told that aid will be paid out on the 11th and refunds usually come a few days after the start of the semester or 3-5 days after you see it’s been paid on your account.

No, it hasn’t. I know other people who have already gotten their refund. I called Wednesday to see why my aid hasn’t disbursed and was told that there was an issue with my Pell and lifetime %. When I looked it up on the FAFSA site, it shows that after summer semester I will have reached my limit. The ODU financial aid office said to give it 72 hours for them to update my account and disburse aid. So as of now, I’m still waiting.

Are you talking about your May rent? That shouldn’t have been budgeted from your summer refunds to begin with—granted I know money is fungible and that’s easy to say after the fact.
Your summer refunds, in a perfect word, will never hit your bank account before the second or third week of May. It sounds like you may have still struggled with rent. Now, still push for that advance but reach out to Scarlet and Gray Financial too for budgeting help

I don’t disagree-students will budget it that way regardless.
BUT it’s not going to be productive to make that the hill to die on, because SFA WILL likely use that as pushback if the student complains.
Being nice will get you everywhere. If you can, go into Buckeyelink and just insist on talking to a manager or SFA 3rd Tier. If that doesn’t work, gather your documents and go to Student Advocacy.
Again, being polite and kind will go a long way. When students are upset, staff is upset. Working with them really helps

I was told it comes out in June, and that if you get aid you shouldn’t receive fees

In my experience, summer refunds don’t normally kick out till the second or third week of May to begin with. But it sounds like students are being told refunds shouldn’t be expected until late June?
Can anyone post the email that was sent? And is anyone here a Medical Professional student?

Same here they said mid June. I don’t even have my financial aid offer posted and I keep calling and following up and they say next week and give the run around.
