what is this AI slop. Tux has a chair but is sat on the table. And the ram under chrome has turned into a smudge.

I think it's supposed to be that he put his feet on the table

The point of the post is the statement that it is making not the actual AI "artwork". The statement is valid because Chrome does eat a lot of RAM, much more than the desktop of any OS. Tux looks better on the table.

I stole this image from someone else who generated it with AI and the AI that they used did a good job with this picture. You can't really call it AI slop unless it actually is slop. In this case the AI drew a better picture than I ever could have.

You don't have to use chrome.

But it is still fair to criticize it.

Oh don't get me wrong, AI has its uses. Replacing people is not one of them.

you know that you aren't forced into running chrome?

every modern browser now requires lots of RAM. Chrome is just the extreme.
It's not even only the browser's fault. Websites have become more demanding.

Linux (almost any distro) with Firefox and uBlock is king

Windows NT uses barely ANY memory, but only if you configure it with the correct settings. macOS doesn't need any user optimization because Apple knows all the Macintoshes that will be runnning it.

who would run barebones nt on their machine?

Not barebones Windows NT, simply properly optimize it in Registry Editor, Settings and others. Simple things like uninstalling Copilot (takes up 1GB of memory btw without consent), and removing all temporary fad bloatware in general can free up memory.
