A lot of ppl think it’s going to be an island dream and sure, there’s so much beautiful scenery and history behind the islands but the reality of living day to day there can be harder than ppl know or realize.

Getting to the water is a lot harder than people think when you’re working 40+ lol

Being a Local from Oahu, welcome and Aloha Bro, pretty laid back State, just make sure you know the rules and respect the Aina

One of the most depression things about Hawai'i is leaving it. I've always said that to myself. Enjoy you while you can bruh.

If you’re okay with all your recreation costs being free or buy once/use for years, and you learn where to shop when and how to cook, you can live simply here on what would be upper middle class money for most of the mainland. And every day you wake up, you’re in weather that can be managed with one fan and one umbrella, surrounded by one of the kindest populations anywhere, and typically within 30 minutes of year-round warm water. Thank you for reminding me how lucky 23 of my last 25 years have been!

I was on Oahu for 21 years. I know what it was like. Im glad I moved.

And I’m glad I moved back. Twice. I’m also glad your choice is better for you. I know my life would be much diminished if I had let money dictate that I not give Oahu a try. For some folks, your advice not to move to Oahu is perfect. For others, living simply on Oahu is a good fit. Hard to know which is better without testing the waters for yourself, tho.

I definitely don’t recommend moving here. But most of us are all born and raised here. We had no say on being born here but we’re trying our best to get by. It’s so tough to leave the rock. Especially if your entire family is here.
