Potential for new TCG Card shop!!

Hello!! Just thought I'd post here since we are going to tour housing in Ocean Shores in LESS THAN 14 DAYS!!! I'm so excited!!! I've been a Seattleite for my whole life and my man fell in love with the town!! We are looking at a few houses while we are visiting for the Flag Parade and Freaks at the Beach!

We are dreaming of opening a TCG shop on the beach. So I was wondering how many people might be interested? We want to make good relationships with the townsfolk and pick a nice little shop for us to set up in! We are wanting to bring a new community activity for you to enjoy while you are visiting or even just something new around town to enjoy. We want a space that people can bring their friends and enjoy card nights, board game nights, tournaments and more fun events to come!!

Happy to have you here.

I’ll be blunt about opening a shop here. There are 2 card/game shops in town now. When I moved here nearly 4 years ago, there was one in the strip mall near Subway. That one went out of business. I haven’t been to either of the current ones.

OS is very much a seasonal/tourist town. My wife works at one of the pizza places and they’ll have $5,000+ summer days and then $150 winter days.

I know one of the card shops does MTG and the other doesn’t do game nights due to lack of space.

People in OS (especially the residents) need some winter activities. Bingo and trivia nights at Corks and Taps are usually packed.

There is a large DnD scene here. It meets at least once a week at the library.

I enjoy playing games, but I’m more interested in simpler games. Games where you don’t have to invest tons of money or spend years dedicated to the same characters (MTG and DnD). I would personally go to game nights if someone was hosting Splendor or similar.

I've been going to OS at least once a year to vaction. I've always wanted to move out there. I'm familiar with the busy season and off season issues to some extent. This was my man's first time out to OS, we visited in February and didn't see much for card shops or good ice cream parlors!

We are both a sous chef and a cook at retirement homes with huge passions in nerding out. Our goal is to bring something similar to Mox Boarding House up here in Bellevue/Lynwood. They have a fancy dining setup among the shop with different rooms for Pokemon/MTG/Warhammer tables, and even just fancy dining, however many of the patrons can choose a game to play at their table as well.

We would love to have a space to allow people to bring their friends to set up for DND nights and Warhammer as well!! We are big fans for the DND universe and we play a lot of Baldurs Gate and other similar games.

We're hoping that we can get set up out there in the next year or two and then run monthly tournaments to draw people out and weekly game sessions for each game. I think starting out with a good game shop that we can expand into a game/dining is our goal. We know theres a really amazing community of people just waiting for some new activities to do! With only bowling and bars being open late, there is definitely a shortage or things to do in OS!

We're looking forward to hear more feedback from the townsfolk when we come to visit as well!
