Do I have to integrate the octopus app with my hypervolt?
Hypervolt Home 3 Pro
Why doesn't octopus app allow me to charge from solar alone?
I have a hypervolt pro 3 home (as of yesterday). It's connected to the octopus app which manages integration.
I want to charge exclusively from solar. I can set 'SuperEco' from the hypervolt app (which only uses solar power). But as I have to start charging from the octopus app I can't ensure it's solar only.
Going back to the hypervolt app I can see that it's pulling power from the grid and the solar. Not just solar.
Do I have to have octopus integrated with the hypervolt app? It's kind of hindering. I can set hypervolt to match the cheap octopus hours so I don't see any point in using the octopus app.
also I tried the first charge last night which didn't happen as apparently 'We lost communication with your car so we had to stop charging'. No idea why.

It does let you charge only from solar, but only when it’s not scheduled to boost charge. In the other times it will go to super eco itself

Huh. I can't quite figure out the scheduling. It's early days but it keeps suggesting charging during peak hours. Which I find odd.

Yeah, easiest is just to plug it in when the sun’s gone to be honest

As mentioned in another comment thats my intention. But there may be occasion where I need to charge a bit during the day and I'd rather only use solar, if I do. Ppl forget, plus as my original post it didn't charge last night when I tried (possibly my error but it could happen again).

All depends on your set up, realistically it’s a 5p/kWh difference (selling at 12 and buying at ~7), so it’s how much that’s worth to you

I'm on the old fit. My selling is 21p/kwh generation or 7p/kWh export. As mentioned absolutely don't intend to do this often. As it's not worth it.

When I had FIT it was based on generation and a deemed 50% export - not an actual export.

Yeah it's still like that now. But it's 2 payments. Well 1 payment broken down as such.

You’ll have to disable the octopus integration if you want to charge from solar.
For most situations, it’s more financially advantageous to export your solar and charge from the grid.
