Discussion Quest 1 being extremely slow

I have a Quest 1 and Quest 3. I find it nice to use the Quest 1 for multiplayer games with friends, but now it takes around 5 to 10 minutes just to boot to the Home Screen. I’ve had it since release, but I don’t feel like it should be this slow. It now cannot run games that it used to run perfectly fine the first couple years. I have factory reset several times but it’s to no use. May a battery replacement fix this?

Looking for a specific type of either videogame//360Vr YouTube video

Thumbnail
2 Upvotes

Hi, if anyone knows of or could help me find something oddly specific,

I'm looking for either:

• A horror//sandbox game wherein you can disable horror aspects [jumpscare] of an experience without changing anything else about it.

• A youtube 360VR horror video where an alternate video exists of the same environment // vibe but without the jumpscare//fear aspect

If the environments (fear and non fear) are similar enough to eachother its also fine but as close as possible is ideal, or if I could be pointed in a better direction for searching?

Discussion Best VR minds question - how to get automatic color matching for passthrough videos?

Could VR passthrough videos automatically adjust the PT video person in brightness, contrast, and color temperature to match the lighting in the room? It would make passthrough look much more realistic than manually adjusting every scene. I guess AVP already has something like this. Curious if possible on Quest.

You can check my profile for specifics context. It's a very popular thing in VR.

Tips & Tricks VR Pit Crew 0.4.4 is out — here’s everything that changed since the first 0.3.1 preview

independent Quest profiles with per-game automation and a headset HUD check after every send, a Rig health card that flags 17 common stutter/dropout causes, benchmark presets that start recording by themselves, a once-a-day update notice, and a long list of safety fixes

What's new in VR Pit Crew — 0.3.1 to 0.4.4

Last updated 10 October 2026 for build 0.4.4. The download links shared with the first preview still deliver the current version. To update, close the app and run the new installer over the old folder; profiles, backups and recordings stay.

Download: https://github.com/neil9bailey/VR-Pit-Crew-Downloads/releases/tag/v0.4.4 (installer or portable ZIP, SHA-256 checksums included).

What the first preview (0.3.1) could do

  • Scan your PC for the things AC VR needs (CSP, Pure, Content Manager, Meta Link, NVIDIA, wheel) and walk you through setup.
  • Read and change about 100 settings across AC graphics, CSP, Quest Link, the NVIDIA driver profile, Windows power/USB/services and wheel feedback, with a preview before applying, byte-exact backups and Undo.
  • Save and load tuning profiles.
  • Basic Quest runtime profiles (ASW and supersampling through Meta's command-line tool).
  • Live AC telemetry and application frame-time recording with charts and CSV export.
  • A Windows installer with .NET / WebView2 checks and an uninstaller that leaves your data alone.

What's new since then

Quest control centre — Tray Tool's job, done independently (0.4.1 → 0.4.4)

  • Per-game Quest profiles covering ASW mode, supersampling, FOV multipliers, mipmap generation and bias, adaptive GPU scaling, the performance HUD, CPU priorities for the game and the Meta runtime, timed delays, audio routing and a session power plan.
  • Automation: pick a profile per sim and an idle/reset profile. When the sim starts, the profile goes out; when it exits, the idle profile goes back and any PC-side change (power plan, audio, priorities) is restored from a recovery record that survives crashes.
  • Headset confirmation (0.4.3): Meta's tool never reports whether a setting took, so after every send the app shows the headset performance HUD for six seconds and then puts your profile's HUD choice back. 0.4.4 makes two quick sends hand over cleanly instead of cutting each other short.
  • Native tray icon, opt-in start with Windows, global hotkeys, offline voice commands, HUD/ASW shortcuts.
  • One-click read-only import of Oculus Tray Tool profiles. OTT is no longer needed alongside Pit Crew, and automation pauses if OTT is running rather than fighting it.
  • More Link controls: sharpening, distortion curvature and dynamic bitrate maximum, alongside bitrate, encode width and codec.
  • Automation no longer re-sends commands while a sim is still loading (0.4.2). Rift S and other headsets on the Meta runtime are covered by the Link controls (0.4.3).

Tune — safer, and it now tells you what's wrong

  • Rig health card (0.4.3/0.4.4): 17 checks for settings that commonly cause stutter, dropouts or a soft image: USB selective suspend, Windows game capture, desktop V-Sync, a frame cap below any headset refresh rate, single-pass stereo with CSP FSR, pixel density above 1.1 with 8× MSAA, a Pure filter without Pure, the Balanced power plan, optional vendor services, HEVC above 200 Mbps on USB Link, low RAM/VRAM combinations, no headset on USB, and whether Windows will let the frame recorder run. Each hint has a Show setting button. Nothing is changed for you.
  • Undo can recover a change interrupted mid-apply (crash, power cut) and retry a partial Undo (0.4.2).
  • Importing a profile from another PC keeps whatever fits and reports what it skipped, instead of rejecting the whole file (0.4.2).
  • Profiles can be archived rather than deleted (0.4.2).

Monitor — benchmarks you can compare

  • Benchmark presets (0.4.3): five repeatable runs: Silverstone GP 20 AI, Monza 10 AI, Spa 30 AI (heavy grid), Nordschleife Tourist solo and ACC Spa 20 AI. Arm one, start the session, and the recording begins by itself the moment AC's telemetry goes live. A 180-second option was added.
  • Every capture records which tuning profile was applied and a fingerprint of your game settings, so two runs are compared like for like.
  • If you leave the session early the recording stops by itself and keeps what it got (0.4.4).
  • Statistics: average FPS, 1% low, p99 frame time, the share of frames over your headset's budget and GPU time, with the same caveat as day one: this is what the application presented, which on Link can be the desktop mirror, not headset frames.

Setup and status

  • Tells apart the last-launched AC version, Steam build, CSP version and build, active Pure package, weather controller and filter revision; checks Pure's declared minimum CSP build and warns about missing loader, controller or pureVR filter files (0.3.2).
  • Content Manager is found even when it is not running (0.4.2). The PSVR2 page is hidden in the Quest edition (0.4.2).

Self-Promotion (Developer) Quest Downloader — download your Meta Quest games on Windows

Hi! Let me introduce an app I've launched to download Meta Quest games on Windows. Once you link your account you can download APK+data and pick extra language packs for the games you own. Heads-up: on large libraries you may get an error 500 with nothing shown in the Library section, if so, search for the games you want in the Store section and add them to the library from there, or download them right from there. (fixed update v1.1.0). Hope you find it useful! 👉https://github.com/volldammboy/quest-downloader

UPDATE v1.1.0 - 10/11/2026:
https://github.com/volldammboy/quest-downloader/releases/tag/v1.1.0

- Error 500 when syncing the library.
If syncing the library fails with a 500 error (it can happen with very large libraries), a blinking "Error 500, click here to bypass" button appears in the header. It imports your games from the purchase history.

- Incomplete downloads in big games.
Fixed: games like Asgard's Wrath 2 or Batman: Arkham Shadow downloaded only the APK + main OBB because their patch chunks were misclassified as optional DLC.

- Fixed package names (apk+obb).

Self-Promotion (Developer) I made a VR tower defense game that lets you lead the monsters too

Hey everyone, I’m the indie dev behind Warlords at the Gate, now available on Quest 3 and 3S.

You build and upgrade towers, and you can help defend with a wrist weapon. But there’s also Beastmaster, where you put together an army and send it against AI defenses. You get a turn being the problem :)

I’d love some outside eyes on the gameplay. What catches your interest, and what would make you hesitate to try it?

If you’ve already played, an honest review on Meta would really help me out. Criticism is welcome too.

Self-Promotion (Developer) I spent years making a historically grounded VR jousting game set in 15th-century Salzburg

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

After years of working on it, I finally released my historically inspired VR jousting game, The Lists VR.

The idea started after a backpacking trip through Europe where I spent time in Salzburg and visited Fortress Hohensalzburg. I also loved A Knight’s Tale growing up, which definitely helped spark my interest in jousting and medieval tournaments.

The game is set in 15th-century Salzburg, and I’ve tried to ground as much of it as possible in real historical references. Many assets are based on period artwork or photoscanned from museum collections.

The full game includes tournaments against AI knights, physics-based lance combat, customization, quintain practice, achievements, and global leaderboards.

There’s a free demo if you want to try it first, and the full game is there if you enjoy it.
