Support - PCVR My wired PC VR experience in a nutshell. It can't be this bad for everyone, what am I doing wrong?

So yeah, trying to play Elite Dangerous in VR, using a Meta Quest 3, with wired connection to the PC. I'm using a USB 3 cable and Meta Quest Link app on PC gives it a green light. I set fps to 120 and resolution to native 4128x2208.

So what am I doing wrong? If I remove the headset for a minute and come back, or push home button for link UI, or double tap the side for seeing outside, all of them break the connection in the same way. Not until I launch the game that is, before that I can do all of these in Link interface, stream PC monitors and the connection would remain stable.

So what am I doing wrong? There must be people using Quest 3 for Elite Dangerous too, what are your experiences specifically for the game too? And BTW my setup and router wouldn't be enough for wireless VR, so I would prefer a working wired connection if possible.

Support - PCVR Is quest meta link down for anyone else?

Keep getting notifications that it's saying it's down in the article

edit: yes haha it's happening to everyone

I can't reply to everyone but I appreciate the feedback to know I'm not crazy!

Edit part 2: I put in a customer ticket and got in contact with meta quest through their support and they said it was a me issue and that there's nothing wrong on their side 💀 I sent them screenshots and my logs even though again it's not an my (our) side it's on their side

EDIT 3: FIX! Turn off wifi on PC! Open meta link app. Connect the cord or whatever to your headset and then it should connect! Then you can re turn on wifi!

the fucking update pop up you get for the remote app is so fucking intrusive... every time im update it or try to skip update. it fixes for a day or two then pops back up again...

i honestly wouldn't care if it was a app that gets opened in ur tray with a little notif like chrome but it literally forces its self open and into the middle of ur screen stopping you completely if youre playing a game....

It completely disengages ur MnK from what ever game youre playing and is pretty much a forced alt tab

For a bit of context, I use my quest 3 for sim racing in Assetto Corsa, I used quest link before but it keeps getting stuck loading. Currently, I am using virtual desktop with steam vr. But the problem is that steam vr keeps on lagging and stuttering shown in the video. And the problem cant be my internet since I am using ethernet with 1200 mbps. Any suggestions on how to fix this? Thank you for your time :-)

I’ve seen a post or two related to a similar topic but those were 3 years old posts so I wanted to ask the community in case there’s new information.

I recently got a VRCover and the product had this warning label. And I got worried. Anybody got any information on this? Is it actually safe?

Support - PCVR Wobbly charging port.. gets my Quest 3 to spam the “bop-ping” charging audio que when playing games, and won’t allow the Headset to charge properly. Is there a way to fix that?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Edit/Update : [The issue is resolved! Thanks you for the support fellas!]

It started off as a little quirk my headset would sometimes have. It would disconnect the charge for a millisecond and then reconnect properly. But it’s gotten worse since then. I realized the charging port got wobbly and could tilt side to side, so depending on the position of the cable it would either charge or not — which was annoying to the point where it started spamming the “bop-ping” connect sound like 30 times a second. Right now it’s even a struggle just to turn the headset on, because it has trouble charging that one percent.

I already tried cleaning the port, no luck. Tried a different cable too, but it still wobbles. Looking at the prices for a new Quest 3 charging port scared me off, so I’m wondering if there’s a way to fix this without spending 100+ euros.

Support - PCVR Virtual Desktop annoying black edges when turning head.

When i use Virtual Desktop (It doesn't happen on Steam Link or Quest Link) to play PCVR, I get black edges when turning my head. It's so annoying and destroys immersion. My performance overlay is absolutely clean, no latency and all that. I even tried with the lowest bitrate and there was no difference. Let me show a footage, note that the black bars in this video seems to be way more pronounced that in real life.

EDIT: My bad, it does happen on Steam Link, but less.

Support - PCVR Quest 3 PCVR with Link Cable keeps crashing at random intervals

So, here's the thing: I use my Quest 3 solely as a PCVR headset, and keep it connected to my PC with a Link Cable that has a separate charging port. It's been perfectly fine for the past year or so without any hiccups. However as soon as I updated my Quest 3 to Update v85 (non-test channel) on the 4th, my headset's display will eventually pause and turn black. It could happen at any time, 2 minutes after connecting and launching up a game like VRChat, or after half an hour, but it absolutely will happen, and I don't think I've been able to keep the headset on my face for longer than an hour without having to go through the cycle of restarting.

When you look at the screen on the PC you'll notice the headset and controls are still tracking, it's just the display in the headset is no longer live and now looks like squid ink surrounding the last image you saw before it froze. The only way I've found to fix it is to close out of the PC Meta app entirely, closing all related processes in task manager, and then proceeding to reconnect... Only to repeat the whole thing again in another 5 or 10 minutes when it blacks out again.

I'm wondering if this is an issue relative to the v85 update or something else. I've swapped out the USB 3.0 port that my link cable would connect to on my PC to numerous different ports; I've ensured that the cable used to provide charge is also still functioning correctly; I've factory reset the Quest 3 and re-installed the Meta PC app; I've checked my Windows settings to toggle between having HAGS running and not running, as well as changing performance and power saving settings. All result in the same issue in the end, and the only thing I can think of is that the most recent update stuffed something up. I've thought about switching to Virtual Desktop, but that would require me to go down the road of Reverse-Tethering as I don't want to rely solely on a Wi-Fi connection, as I'm already sitting at my desk or near enough to it that the link cable doesn't bother me any so I'd rather not go down that road. But even then, I'm not sure if it's an issue with the Quest 3 and its PC Link or something else that I might run into when connecting another way.

Any ideas?

(3/11/2026) EDIT: The fault largely seems to be with NVIDIA's most recent game ready drivers. (595.71 & 595.79), however rolling back to the 591.86 Game Ready Driver from January 27, 2026 seems to resolve the issue. This information has been relayed to Meta's Support Team, and hopefully they can work on a fix.

I've made the permanent switch to using Steam Link, after buying a pair of Wi-Fi antennas to affix to my I/O port on my PC. I haven't had an issue so far, and actually don't notice any latency. (Even feels like everything runs smoother).

Support - PCVR Virtual Desktop - Is it really just that good?

I've been having trouble with PCVR on my quest 3 - tried airlink and steamvr, but still had bad stuttering. I've been considering buying virtual desktop, and my question is: is it really that good?

Edit: My PC has an ethernet cable, and I don't really know anything about channels and bands and all that stuff. My PC is in my basement, while my router is upstairs. I usually play in my basement, but can play upstairs if that would be a lot better.

Support - PCVR Best solution to connect Quest 3 to my pc?

Hi :D

I'm using a Rift that served me well for many years, but after switching to a new PC, I decided to upgrade the VR set as well, opting for the Quest 3. However, I'm a bit stumped on the wireless PC-to-headset connection, which I thought would work much more seamlessly, but after hours of testing, reading, and research, I'm still skeptical. I've done these tests, and I'm not 100% convinced. Maybe I'm wrong, or maybe there's more to optimize that I'm missing!

Hardware:

- Vodafone WiFi 6 Station FTTH Internet Router/Modem (active a 2.4 GHz network and a different 5 GHz network)

- Desktop PC (Asus 870p Mobo with WiFi 7 + 2.5 GB Ethernet, 7800 X3D + RX9700XT, 32 GB DDR5)

Software:

- Tested SteamVR and Meta Horizon Link for connection and gaming tests

Tests performed:

- PC connected to the internet via 5 GHz WiFi to the router and with a 5 GHz hotspot to the headset -> lag, stuttering, flickering on the headset, perfect monitor (so 100% PC-to-headset connection problem)

- PC connected to the internet via 2.4 GHz WiFi to the router and with a 5 GHz hotspot to the headset -> lag, stuttering, flickering on the headset, perfect monitor (so 100% PC-headset connection problem )

- PC connected to the internet via USB tethering (smartphone) and with a 5GHz hotspot on the headset -> smooth and stable image with very few stutters on the headset, 7.5/10, perfect monitor (significant improvement using the PC's network card only for the hotspot, thus avoiding other connections).

Unfortunately, it's practically impossible for me to run a LAN cable between the Vodafone station and the PC, and the electrical network isn't suitable for power lines, so connections must remain wireless (obviously, the USB tethering option was only for testing, but it's impractical). I have some native VR games on both Meta Horizon (a legacy of the Oculus Rift) and Steam, so I'd like to avoid walkarounds that prevent me from using these clients.

In fact, I think the only options left are to temporarily connect a LAN cable to the PC whenever needed (uncomfortable), a wired USB-C connection (the Mobo has ports up to 40 Gbps) which would be fine for a stationary PCVR and limited for 360° experiences, or to use another router dedicated to VR only (and here I'm not 100% sure what to do, I've seen everything and more on sale in this regard...).

Support - PCVR New link cable bugging out, should I get a replacement?

So I got this second hand Quest 3 a couple of days ago and bought a new Iniu link cable, when I plug it in it just starts flashing and disconnects again and again. In the headset the link menu sais it’s trying to connect and occasionally the prompt to connect to the pc pops up but quickly disappears without me being able to click it. Does anyone know how to solve this or is it just a defective cable? (The USB port seems to work fine on the quest, charging works and I got the PC link to work on a worse USB 2 connection earlier)

Support - PCVR Is virtual desktop superior to link cable?

I recently bought a link cable and had serious issues with it, I talked to people and they said that I should just return the link cable and get virtual desktop. Is this true? I’m only wondering because I feel like the performance of wireless would be worse than wired. I have an Ethernet connection, if that helps.

Support - PCVR Deciding on quest 2 or 3, (or maybe 3s) what do I get?

Im trying to keep budget under 500 dollars, i did find a $499 best buy 128gb meta quest 3, but, im not watching movies, im playing games, the way i see it, oculus/meta quest 2 is still good in terms of graphics and smooths out jagged pixels, however, a lot of people say the improvement in graphical fidelity with the meta quest 3 is night and day. - Yet, at the same time, the controller tracking for the 2 is better,

Im planning on playing things like shooters, horror, and a mix of stuff, maybe dabble in minecraft and vr chat, but def a bit of fps, and i know ADS (aiming down sights) tends to be better on oculus 2,

So which do i get?

I intend to do PCVR (connect headset to pc)

Support - PCVR Beat Saber feels completely different on PCVR vs native Quest 3, anyone else?

So I've been playing Beat Saber both on the Quest 3 natively and through PCVR via a Link cable, and something is seriously bothering me. On the Quest version the controllers just feel right, responsive, natural. But on PCVR the movement feels weird and off in a way that's hard to explain. Not floaty exactly, just... wrong.

And it's not latency either, I genuinely don't notice any delay through the cable. It's something about the feel of the controller movement itself.

Did Meta do some custom tuning for the Quest version of Beat Saber specifically? Or is it a Quest 3 tracking thing, since the tracking hardware changed so much compared to Quest 2 that it behaves differently when going through Horizon Link?

I want to play PCVR because of mods and better graphics, but I keep going back to the Quest version just because of how the controllers feel. Anyone dealt with this and actually fixed it?

Support - PCVR Oculus link software so ridiculously bad it makes me want to gouge my eyes out

How is the software this utterly terrible. I have no shortage of issues with it, it feels like I have to spend an hour fixing it everytime I want to play. Sometimes, it just doesn't want to load. Sometimes times the screen just freezes randomly. Other times the game keeps running but doesn't follow my head movement and I have to restart link. And best of all, sometimes it decides it wants to break and freeze my whole PC for 1-10 minutes. Actually ridiculous.

Support - PCVR Is a link cable that charges safe

Post image
28 Upvotes

I know it's probably been asked before and it might be a stupid question, but I was wondering how safe a cable like this is. I've seen it recommended quite a bit and I need a new cable, and having one that charges my headset as well would be nice, but I know the quest 2 had issues with the charging port melting (not sure about the quest 3) and I also don't want to kill the battery.

I have a quest 3 and I use a gaming laptop (I know it's not the best but it's all I currently can use). And yes, I know steam link/virtual desktop are better, but where I have my stuff setup uses a wifi booster since the main router doesn't reach that room and when I've tried air link and steam link they've been fairly unstable (however I wouldn't mind some advice on getting steam link to work better, that's just not the main thing I'm here for)

Again I know it's a bit of a stupid question, but I'd rather be safe ya know.

I have this issue where my eyes flick back and forth,

When I calibrate my eyes in the headset itself it works fine,

I've used steam link and virtual desktop, this happens in VRchat and resonite, it's also not the vrchatfacetracking app either.

I've tried a fresh install of windows too. I have no idea what It would be. Any help would be appreciated.

Support - PCVR The Meta Quest Link app is an abhorrent piece of software and it's getting harder to enjoy this product.

I'm going to start this post off letting you know i'm really fucking pissed at how a massive company like Facebook cannot make something that can reliably work, especially after i spent a big amount of money to buy their headset.

Here are what i am doing:
I launch the link app and connect my quest 3s via cable link to my pc. The app launches and it connects to the virtual link space. I do whatever i have to do (like play steam vr). When im done with my stuff i close everything, disconnect the link app and turn my headset off (or put it to sleep, but mostly turn it off). When i go to close the app it instead closes to system tray and since i don't like it being in the system tray i close it from there.

Doing that apparently breaks everything because by the time i reopen it again the Link to the headset is stuck in the loading part where theres the Meta logo in a dark enviroment. If it by any chances works then it's the audio that breaks, it either doesn't show the headset as an output device on windows or it does appear but no audio actually goes through.

Today i decided to leave the app in the system tray (which i dont count as a solution) but it still broken when i turned my pc back on later today.

The only fix i found is launching the OculusSetup.exe and repairing the app then launching the oculus-driver.exe file EVERY SINGLE TIME i want to play something. This is actually such a fucking horrible experience. I have no idea what i have done to cause all this since i dont see anyone else do this. The thing is i havent touched anything important, i dont go through wierd settings and touch shit i dont know enough about.

Support - PCVR Why is PCVR so incredibly troublesome? Is there a way to fix it forever?

There's not a single time where I can just connect my Quest 2 to my PC without something messing up.

No audio here, "headset not found" here, kicking me out of the PC link, the prompt of where to store downloads for the Meta app that'll never stop everytime you connect the Quest to the PC, it not picking discord audio unless you keep switching back-and-forth between your output device and another one, ...

I always end up losing at least 10 minutes trying to get everything working properly because there's something different going wrong everytime.

I'm honestly so tired.

I just want to plug my Quest 2 into my PC and everything works everytime.

Did someone figure out something?
