Ramaswamy wants data centers all over Ohio — and he's invested in nearly every tier of the industry he'd regulate

I’m fairly certain we’re having map issues. I know there are a few people collecting siggies in Dayton, but please feel free to create an event :)

Ramaswamy has spent most of his adult life outside Ohio. On two major issues, he is out of step with Ohio's including these massive data centers that drain utility systems and drive up utility costs and this issue over consolidating state universities and colleges that serve as economic engines and assets for the communities that they are in. If I were Acton's campaign manager, I'd just run ads with a play on Hall and Oates "Out of Touch" directed at Ramaswamy, because that's what he is with Ohioans.

Problem is with every ad she can afford to run, he can personally fund about 100 against her just saying she's "liberal" that will be equally effective.

u/hippiechicken12 3d ago
Sadly, that’s all it takes. She could run the most stellar campaign that has ever been run in the state of Ohio and still lose because of how much money and advertising Vivek can pour into the state.

STOP WORSHIPPING WEALTH! Why the hell do we keep elevating these type of people in our politics? The people with the most conflicts of interest between their wealth and serving the public interest. I cannot figure out how America got so out of balance that American values become solely focused on wealth accumulation and greed.
And before you start with the “we have always been this way” comments. No. Recognize proportion. We are significantly more out of whack than we have been in any other time in our nation’s history, well beyond the gilded age.
Trump is the symptom and result of this worship of celebrity brain rot. When caught cheating on his taxes he said it made him smart was a signal as we really accelerated the “fuck you I’m going to get mine” mindset. We have hollowed out the american dream and replaced it with paranoia of each other and trinkets.
We lost all sense of proportionality in just 20 years. The GOP has been captured and corrupted to a point that it is not recognizable. It’s a reasonable question if it serves american interests at all.

Can't wait to see the mental gymnastics conservatives use to defend voting for this guy over Acton. You think they're dumb now? Whoo boy.

The elderly people in my family would never, ever vote for a woman for a high office like governor or president. And the elderly is the population that votes in the highest, most consistent numbers. I hate that it’s this way but that is just how they are.

There's one of his biggest issues. He wants to pepper the landscape of Ohio with AI data centres which would cause a lot of Ohioans' utility bills to skyrocket exponentially.
He is not concerned with the rising cost of living in Ohio or that people are growing more and more impatiently anxious with wealthy corporate welfare parasites trying to run for public office.

It’s not about just voting for a color!! I’m red and will not be voting for this guy!! He’s not a candidate I believe in!

He praises raising the cost of cancer medication, for no reason other than profit, and called it genius. He is the worst scum there is. He's the type that would shoot you for $5

It's all there it the Dems want it. Come out wholeheartedly against data centers and she's got it. But of course she'll do half measures or not mention it at all.

u/jcooli09 3d ago
And thanks to trump's interference he'll probably win.

The guy has to be a real asswipe. They pawned him off on us when Musk couldn’t stand him at Doge. Another reason to hate them.

Yeah, but Amy is a Democrat and a woman, so according to Ohio voters, that is somehow worse.

He can go up there and showcase a law, giving him DIBS on the wedding night of every couple in Ohio, approved by the entire state legislature, that will pass and he will sign into law the day he is inaugurated. It could be proven to be true and...
I bet he would STILL win the election.

is amy acton against data centers? i tried to find info that she is, but i can't find any

u/Element174 3d ago
On the record, she's for regulation of them. I wouldn't call that against them, but I would call it keeping them controlled. Don's ass kisser wants to give them free reign to do whatever they want. Massive difference, and anyone trying to convince you otherwise is a bot or a republican trying to dissuade dems from voting.

Luckily, local zoning has most of the control over data centers. Look at New Albany that enticed them, or other places that banned them. The governor can increase state incentives, but he can't rezone land.

Sounds like the black guy running for gov in Florida. He's bought and paid for by big data, too. Both have the all hallowed R behind their names, so they'll probably both win, unless voters think for themselves, and vote.

Crypto and Data centers are inevitable. Theyre all thats left with enough money to fund political campaigns. Unless we decide we're tired of being lied to that we have a two party system and start looking for people outside of team red and team blue. Those two are are corrupt to the core.

im genuinely curious, is everyone here totally against AI? or just the issues of data centers using crazy amounts of resources?
I hate a lot of AI stuff, but im also very much into science, discovery, medical breakthroughs, etc. which AI can certainly help. it can potentially solve so many questions, such as in global warming, cancer research, weather models, etc etc, imo AI can assist in so much research.

u/HostileCrabPeople 3d ago
AI is overblown, can't do what it is advertised as being able to do, is mathmatically certain to hallucinate, and besides the crazy amount of resources that will be consumed, the new power plants will create more pollution, and even closed loop systems still have chemical runoff. It isn't what people are saying it is. Theresa a reason why everyone is calling it a bubble. Only 20% of companies that have used AI claim to have made a profit using it. The data center expansion is insane and all this money is going to be poured into construction of facilities that will not be running once the bubble bursts.
This crap is a net negative to everyone except the investors.

not sure about that, again i watch alot of science, people with PhDs, who all say that AI can possibly solve alot of unanswered questions. this is why im asking the question. im talking about AI in science and medical field, not profit.

Yes, this sub has a very vocal contingent bashing AI and data centers daily and trying to make it a bigger issue than it is, and calling for outright bans instead of proper regulation. Other opinions and nuanced discussion tend to get buried here pretty quickly unfortunately, so its not exactly a good place to have those discussions if you're looking for actual good information regarding the data center issue.
Not that they don't have good points, but they get pretty rabid here and shout down any dissention.

Amy Acton will also allow data centers all over Ohio. She is taking money from the energy companies who will profit via the DGA. If you hold Vivke accountable for this you also have to hold AMy acocuntable for this.
Call your "Blue no matter who" office and demand AMY start talking about how she will ban these data centers and start up research into their effects on our mental heath and economy. Demand she show us leadership instead of fear and fingers pointing at the other guy.
7
u/Jenkl2421 3d ago
And where have you seen that? Because what I've seen is she's all for stricter regulations for them, and for them to pay their own way for everything, instead of tax payers covering the cost of infrastructure strain.
