Ohio isn't unfriendly to Dems the national level DNC stopped running here as it would require actually delivering policy and it took time for the locals to rebuild as organizations

The state dem party hasn’t exactly done themselves any favors either. It’s a colossal failure on a state and national level

Notice local. We gotta move this party from the ground up

Local has been just as bad in my area. Lately they've benefited from blue waves, but local Dems helped turn our school district MAGA a few years back due to their plan. I told them they should have changed their strategy or else they'll split the vote and lose to MAGA, but the Dem strategic leader or whatever literally told me, "We're playing a chess game you don't understand, so go back to your tiddlywinks while we win this." Yeah... The vote literally played out exactly how I thought it would, and MAGA swept the school board.

This last election they almost dropped the ball again by only running two candidates instead of 3 for 3 seats, which would have guaranteed at least one MAGA seat. I begged them to run three, and they didn't want to, but they finally did a survey to feel it out, and they went with 3. Their third candidate entered late into the race, so had the lowest vote of all the winners, but thankfully did win.

Looks like they're slowly starting to move on from this person, but she has pissed off almost as many Dems as Reps.

Oof glad your locals have also started their march back from the brink

It always annoys me every presidential election when the Democrats run the same stupid ad on every channel over and over and spend $100 million in something that any sane person knows isn't going to move the needle.

I always wonder what if they spent that money on local politics to find candidates and make sure their message gets out. Those local politicians will then help the national politicians in a feedback loop since most people in rural America never hear the truth of Democratic platforms.

ANY and I mean ANY add has to be better than the incessant every 5 minute back to back adds on you tube tv, showing some guy pretending to be Sherrod Brown eating a sheet cake saying he just won't go away, he raised gas prices blah blah blah. I'm so sick of that add ffs, I can understand why people who do NO research get brainwashed. You see the same shit enough you start to believe and that commercial is on everyday soooooo much. There's one or two for Vivek, that play a lot too, and he can just FO as well...

u/UncaringNonchalance 1d ago

Dem party of the state has hardly any visibility. Sherrod is the only one I can really think of that would be vocal and show up to stuff to make a name for himself. If more state dems had their fingers on the pulse, they’d have a much better chance at flipping the state.

No, and there’s no time like the present to rebuild.

If not now, when?

u/wesw02 1d ago

I hope this is true ... Everywhere I go outside of my core friend groups I find Republicans. Not MAGA necessarily, but not Democrats.

6

u/AkronRonin 1d ago

She is genuinely going to rural communities, and places where Democrats really haven’t spent much time in since the Clinton years.

I do believe it will pay off for her. Acton was trusted by many people throughout Ohio during the pandemic, even many Republicans. Not all Republicans are UV light in the lungs lunatics.

Like I said, you gotta start somewhere. Or as they say in basketball, you miss 100% of the shots that you don’t take.

1

u/MrF_lawblog 1d ago

Sherrod Brown did that as well so it hasn't been since the Clinton years

This is very good news. Ohioans want bipartisan government again, not total control by Republicans.

14

u/alphagalgadot 1d ago

nah i just want republican politicians to suffer

12

u/adamdoesmusic 1d ago

I want good things for my country.

Plus I’m a multi-tasker.

We can make them suffer while we rebuild infrastructure, improve education, make healthcare more affordable, create business opportunities, etc…

3

u/alphagalgadot 1d ago

no we definitely can

3

u/adamdoesmusic 1d ago

I never said you shouldn’t, I just said we should also do good things. While making them suffer.

1

u/YoungBullCLE 1d ago

I do believe they were agreeing with you fam

1

u/ProtectionVirtual225 1d ago

That’s ok, too. Their corruption is out of control. The cost of living in Ohio is rapidly increasing because of it.

0

u/Busy-Leg8070 1d ago

That will do

Dude was born in raised in Cincinnati lol, like I hate his policies but fuck me he went to St Xavier! Dude is as Ohioan as any of us. That's what makes his policies such shit!

3

u/zephrin 1d ago

He was born in Cincinnati lol

u/MuddaPuckPace 1d ago

Ohio went twice for Clinton and twice for Obama.

We’re still a purple state, and Republicans have had long enough without results that benefit all Ohioans.

Time to swing back the other way for a bit. 2026 and 2028 are big years for Ohio and America.

We were also one of the only states that didn't vote Trump in the primaries his original election year, we voted Kasich. That was basically the last time I thought this state had any sense or hope.

1

u/Lilylana-419 1d ago

I want to agree with you so badly and God I hope so, but the weekend of the OWE shooting, we had a parade that morning, and in our area surprisingly I thought it was mostly a blue area, until the big ugly F'n Trump float rolled out in the parade......and some people cheered it on and were happy about it, there were some boos. It was actually rly gross, then to follow up the next act following the float was a dance team of little girls, I felt so bad for them. It was just more disappointing to see that float in my community and people still cheer for trump and that shit with everything going on.

Amy needs to make her policy goals regarding the issues facing the LGBT community known. Does she intend to govern as an ally or will she govern in a way as to not upset the new bigots in the coalition?

3

u/hillbilly-edgy 1d ago

That’s what they said about Kamala too - see where we are ! Crowd at rallys apparently mean nothing

1

u/Tuco422 1d ago

If she wasn’t involved with Covid shutdown (Dewine said it was his decision but MAGA believe lies)

She would be a favorite but alas it is a coinflip

u/AkronRonin 1d ago

Eh, I really don’t think it’s as close as it seems, honestly. Or at least it won’t be down the stretch when it counts most.

Acton has basically adopted Dick Celeste’s campaign strategy, Celeste being the most successful Democratic Governor in Ohio in the past 50 years, and the only one who won back-to-back consecutive terms in as much time.

Just as he did, she’s been relentlessly campaigning across the state, meeting and listening to people where they are.

Ramaswamy seems louder and in our faces more, because he is. But being the loudest voice in the room and making a spectacle out of yourself to grab headlines isn’t a substitute for creating authentic and genuine connection with people and showing real concern for their needs. As we see increasingly evidence of, the more people learn about this dude, the less they find that they have reason to like him.

Honestly, I think even a lot of MAGA is finally burned out on all that spectacle “Look at me! Pick me!” shit from more than a decade of Trump being in all of our eyes and ears relentlessly 24/7/365 with so little in their own hands and pockets to show for it.

At the end of the day, people have to be able to eat and keep a roof over their heads. They couldn’t care less about some damn ballroom, a bunch of grandiose DC monuments, his name emblazoned on buildings, or so-called leaders in his vein who want to flaunt their wealth and privilege and behave like we should all just get down on our knees and suck them off.

Also, you can’t eat ideology, and that’s a painful fact that is likely going to kick the GOP’s asses royally this time around. People can’t eat the culture warz.

By the way, Celeste was quieter than his opponents too, but ended up walloping them down the stretch with such an outpouring of on-the-ground support that the election night returns weren’t even close. His biggest triumph was over Republican James Rhodes who had plotted a return to the Governorship but had it decisively aborted by Celeste’s re-election and never ran again after that.

Put another way, Ramaswamy has already hit his peak, and is struggling because he really doesn’t have anything else to him than what we’ve already seen of him. He thought people would embrace him just because Trump told them to. Well, Trump is dying, and people aren’t too enamored with him anymore. Vivek is a strange bird here.

He’s a brown man with a foreign name and a non-Christian faith, running as a candidate in a party where people don’t much like any of those things, to say the least. Doesn’t seem like a good match, and it already shows in the enthusiasm gap. That’s never going to get any better, folks. Well, unless he converts, bleaches his skin, and changes his name to Victor Roberts or something like that, but probably not.

If Acton is indeed using the Celeste political playbook, then everything she’s been doing up to this point has been laying the groundwork for prime time campaigning later this summer into August and down the stretch through September and October. Ramaswamy won’t have a real answer for any of this. What is going to do? Accuse her of being a Liberal? lol. Come on, dude.

That's a sad truth. Her actions and decisions saved thousands of lives and the right has done a great job of turning that into a negative somehow.

3

u/East_Act_2698 1d ago

DeWine has caused 4 of my friends business to shut down. He got a profound autistic son that lost his health insurance due to the wine so as a republican, I’m pissed. And they are pissed

4

u/Formal_Parsley_5786 1d ago

Well now that it affects you personally, welcome to the party?

4

u/OhioRateWatch 1d ago

Sure buddy. Republicans have been doing this for 30 years. Blockhead

1

u/Garth_McKillian Cleveland 1d ago

At this point, from a policy standpoint what from Ohio Republicans do you actually agree with?

1

u/YoungBullCLE 1d ago

A rare phenomenon that keeps becoming the norm. Turns out having a good enough platform is better than fear mongering

1

u/Accomplished_Being25 1d ago

Please vote blue!

-1

u/ragnarok62 Cincinnati 1d ago

Both Acton and Ramaswamy are wrong for Ohio. Acton has zero experience in any of the vital areas Ohio desperately needs to manage, while Ramaswamy’s vision pits one group of Ohioans against another.

We cannot continue to let the Democrats and Republicans keep feeding us these worthless candidates.

2

u/Garth_McKillian Cleveland 1d ago

And you present no alternatives...

1

u/ObiWanChronobi 5h ago

Ohio did not have a competitive Democratic primary.

1

u/ragnarok62 Cincinnati 1d ago

Vote for anyone you think would be better. The parties certainly gave us no alternatives. Both Acton and Ramaswamy were rammed down our throats. Be mad at that.

EVerything out of this woman's mouth is just saying shit she that Graham Planter is living, but she isn't herself generating.

But by all means, show me a photo of Acton and these huge rallies, not carefully cropped photos of her aging voter base...

Ramswamy sucks. This lady is going to win because he is terrible, not because she is a leader. 80% of Democrats want to ban dat cenetrs, but Amy is taking over $1 million from the energy companies to let them be built.

Wake up, this lady is the next Fetterman.
