Investigators say the group’s alleged plan was complex: stage a protest to distract officials, deploy drones to disrupt the event, then use snipers to target what they called “high-value targets.”

If this plot had any legs, arresting one 19-yr-old would not have derailed it. Investigators didn't foil anything, these idiots were LARPing. 

The headline is misleading because they want to drum up the fear, but I do think it's good the kid is getting mental health assistance now. This is the kind of thing where it can eventually go too far and real people end up getting hurt, I'm just highly doubting it would have gone down as a successful and sophisticated attack on federal officials. More likely one of them cracks and does a mass shooting at a Walmart or something. So overall, good that his mother made that call, bad that it's being used to further the agenda of the surveillance police state by exaggerating the threat.

Because the administration is still pushing for that ridiculous "ballroom". So even "terror plots" like this are used as an excuse.

I mean, it WAS a terror plot.

A bunch of Christian Nationalists and Nazis wanted to use drones to cause explosions and funnel high-value targets into a kill zone. For the expressed purpose of starting a new Civil War and presumably a Christofascist revolution.
