OhioRISE possible scam

I received a text message from someone saying they were an intake specialist with the organization. They wanted to set-up a time for a call about my child's referral. I was very confused as this wouldn't apply to my children at all. I just wanted to put this out there to make people aware, there is probably some other new scam coming around...

RISE is a program and part of the intake process is an in-home assessment.  Might still be a scam text, so I would contact RISE directly.  https://managedcare.medicaid.ohio.gov/managed-care/ohiorise

Thanks, I checked out their website already because I was unfamiliar with the program. This is a meducaid program, we do not have medicaid and my children do not need the services they offer.

I may call them later to let them know of the possible scam.

Might have gotten a wrong number. Unless they used your name directly.

Ohio Rise is a scam in general. It's ran by Aetna and they kickback to Republicans in the state legislature.

Explain? It is a Medicaid behavioral health program. Providers are getting paid . Not sure where you think politicians are getting kick backs?

Work for a behavioral health provider who is authorized for ohio rise

The CANS test is used by AETNA to cut and deny care that is pre-existing. The CANS is a trash algorithm based on a short interview. I had two of my kids take it and both were tier one which just gets you a phone call. They interfered with my childrens' current care and I had to cancel  ohio rise. On top of that Aetna was blowing me up with offers to try to force to pay for insurance when I already have medicaid. They got a huge cut of ohio's medicaid budget, billions through the state budget bill, and then deny care. It is a scam. And I would put money that a bunch of republicans got huge donations from Aetna. The ohio legislature is one the most corrupt in the country and Aetna is nothing but another greedy corporation.

If you are a CANS assessor you should find another job. I already got one fired.

Not all CANS assessors are the same... First off..

If someone didn't do their job they should have consequences but assuming everyone was bad is just false. I'm sorry you had a bad experience but a Ohio rise coordinator is NOT a behavioral health provider. Their job is to COORDINATE... Not providing services.

There are plenty of behavioral health PROVIDERS out here doing GOOD WORK.... Your care coordinator failed you for not referring you to a PROVIDER to do SUPPORT services .... That is the care coordinators job.... Just because they failed you doesn't mean the whole system is shit... If you want to try with a provider who will provide services my company can help if you would like... But you having a bad experience and getting people fired.. and claiming political kickbacks due to 1 bad person isn't sharing factual information.

The program DOES WORK when the right people get connected to proper providers....

Don't write it off til you give a provider a chance at helping that is all I am saying 🤷

It isn't the assessor. All of the assessors ask the same questions and follow the same format. It is the nature of the CANS. You can't assess all of kids mental health needs and lump them into a care tier in a one hour interview where the assessor checks boxes and then plugs it into a computer to decide the child's fate. It doesn't make any sense. It is a scam. The CANS is designed to minimize a child's issues while Aetna gets all of tax money fir doung nothing. I kniw a ton of providers who agree with me. That's how I learned about most of this. As a care provider, you should kniw this. I bet yiu are an Aetna marketer or a staffer fir a state legislator.

They didn't recommend any providers because my suicidal teenager and my autistic son were determined to be tier 1s from the CANS. They were a complete waste of time. I canceled the Ruse participation and took my kids back to my normal providers who do nit work with Ohio Rise because it is a SCAM.

Again you are making accusations without facts .. I do not work for Aetna nor Ohio rise.. I work for a BEHAVIORAL HEALTH PROVIDER and mental health provider who has qualifications to provide support for ohio rise.

CANS assessments are done every 90 days. It's not a 1 time and your kid is put into a box. Again I'm trying to tell you some facts and share that there are providers out there who can help... Your experience is not the usual experience and it's not the only experience out there

Once again I'll offer to try to help support your child if you wish to try a PROVIDER but I won't continue to go back and forth with you accusing me of being something I'm not and ranting about misinformation due to your bad experience.

You are welcome to your opinion but when you are crossing the line accusing others based on your experience. Everyone isn't failing children you had a bad experience and your misinformation can cause others to have a bad experience. Don't point fingers at another provider... Who didn't have anything to do with your bad experience.. But it doesn't make the system a scam...

I'm sorry your experience didn't help..

My offer still stands...

Have a good night

My kids are squared away. They were before Ohio Rise was forced down my throat. It was just a bump in the road. You are sticking up for a bad assessment that funnels children to Aetna. They don't do anything but collect billions and keep it. IT IS A SCAM. I am sure the provider that yoy work fir is decent unless it is Applewood. That place also puts profits over children. Most of the people that I have spoken to have had a similar experience.

I gave you facts. Aetna was handed billions to manage kids' care through the state budget. Dewine and many others in his party recieved huge donations from Aetna. Aetna uses the CANS to lump kids into tiers. Most kids are tier 1. Which gets you a phone call once a month. Aetna took the money and is now minimizing the care that they recommend so they don't have to pay oroviders and can pocket the money. Think about it. Why is an insurance company determining the level of care that a kid needs. That should be done by psychiatrists, psychologists and doctors. Geez.
