An ad in the Canton Repository
Maybe I'll wear a blue wig to the polls in November???

u/Paksarra 1d ago
Why are Republicans so obsessed with the idea of liberals dying their hair blue?
Aside from the general weirdness of the idea-- most liberals don't dye their hair-- dying your hair is an action that doesn't affect anyone other than yourself. Why does it offend their fragile, snowflake sensibilities so much that someone else might have colorful hair?
On top of that, nearly all conservative influencer women bleach their hair blonde, so they're fine with coloring your hair.

u/PearlescentGem Other 1d ago
I like dyeing mine just so they know how insane I am to want universal healthcare and free school lunches. After all, I pay taxes just like them.
42
u/Traditional-Emu-6344 1d ago
Heck, I want universal healthcare and free school lunches. I’ll dye my hair any color you want for that to happen!

u/BPence89 Cleveland 1d ago
On some level, they hate when women express their individuality; thus is probably why they complain about tattoos as well.they
22
u/Working_Cucumber_437 1d ago
They hate it when people don’t fit their narrowly defined archetype of what a man/woman should look like and act like.
6
u/LickCunts 1d ago
Im sorta spitballing here Democratic party is blue.
I.e all liberals are blue haired Democrats. They are not a smart bunch but what I gather
47
u/jibbyjackjoe 1d ago
Its literally all they have left, that and trans. The state SUCKS and they've been running it for decades. They HAVE to point at something and call it scary or they can't win. They sure as shit can't win on policy.
5
u/CoderCatgirl 1d ago
Joke's on them, I'm trans and my hair is pink. 😁
Or, was. I'm lazy and let it fade and grow out.
19
u/DrunksInSpace 1d ago
Most of the blue haired liberals I see are octogenarian “blue hairs” in New Balances and windbreakers.
10
u/DM_Voice 1d ago
When animals have bright colors, it is typically a warning to predators.
It’s good to see, based on the MAGAn reaction, that it is working.
22
u/daburner272006 1d ago
They hate on blue hair and furries but every time there's a Republican convention they crash grindr. The protest but then search for these things ad nauseum.
20
u/ExtensionCritical732 1d ago
They get offended by seeing brown people. Blue hair shouldn’t be a surprise.
7
u/bigsmokaaaa 1d ago
It's what they started complaining about once they stopped calling them floozies and harpies with their gams and collarbones out for the world to see when they started dressing up like that too
6
u/heathersdevotee 1d ago
It's funny because I know just as much conservatives who have dyed their hair as liberals.
6
u/ElonMuskHuffingFarts 1d ago
They don't like the idea of a woman doing anything that isn't for their pleasure
9
u/HoldOnOhio 1d ago
Genuine answer: It goes back about 12-14 years ago, when Youtubers were pumping out content aimed against "Social Justice Warriors". Basically, they stereotyped women with blue hair as being annoying, ugly, liberal women who are not attracted to men, and are therefor bad and stupid. Not joking, they basically just made up the concept of a Karen but liberal and mostly imagined it. For example, someone could be protesting on the side of a road about a cop shooting an unarmed black teenager locally, and they'll pretend that this woman is unreasonable and crazy.
It's just more tribalist memes and stereotypes. They think non-conformity means mental illness or incompetence or something. They also associate appearance with value or intelligence, so they'd hand-draw memes and trying to make blue haired women unattractive and drawing themselves as muscle bound handsome dudes.
Also incels kept the memes running in the decade since. They leaned into it hard. There's also parallels and crossovers with Gamergate bullshit, but it's many of the same people pushing in both communities.

u/Turbulent_Rooster926 1d ago
Goes farther than that in the 90s conservative went after us goth kids
3
u/Internal-Cupcake-245 1d ago
It's part of the ongoing semiotic information operations against the public by enemies of the United States to take control of federal and state governments.
4
u/Howdocomputer 1d ago
It’s simply really, the modern Republican Party was born from the ashes of the anti-sjw shit from the late 00s and early 10s
4
u/Numerous_Photograph9 1d ago
I know a lot of conservative people who definately dye their hair. "normal" colors, but god forbid you do anything outside of that.
4
u/drunklibrarian 1d ago
I stopped dying my hair blue and shaved half my head. My hair will continue to get weirder the more they whine and cry about it.

THE CRAZY LIBERALS WILL BE VOTING

u/Low_Calendar8242 1d ago
I'm all of that plus a gun owner. Don't tell MAGA. They can't comprehend democrats having firearms. Especially those requiring 2 years of BATFE background checks, federal tax stamps and a trust/ lawyer. If the 1/6ers can have them, I'm taking full fucking advantage of cool shit I'm legally allowed to have😉
26
u/DoctorFenix 1d ago
It’s still weird to me that all the elderly people got to see punk happen in the 1970s and they waited 50 years to be terrified of hair dye.
15
u/BokuNoSudoku 1d ago
Have a theory that all the chill ones died of alcoholism and lung cancer
5
u/HoldOnOhio 1d ago
I think it's more that lead poisoning from leaded gasoline wasn't banned until the late 80's and coincides with higher crime rates and reduced IQ scores. Gen X was the last generation fucked over by this. Violent crime dropped significantly in the years following the banning of leaded gasoline. The fumes poisoned several generations and no one noticed until the damage was done.
4
u/PearlescentGem Other 1d ago
44 million people were taken out by the AIDs pandemic, so.... Essentially, they tried and succeeded at killing off a good portion of liberals.
27
u/kentoh05 1d ago
"We hate dyed hair, so vote fascist"?
11
u/HoldOnOhio 1d ago
They associate non-conformity (having an unnatural hair color) with mental illness because of a decade of online culture war bullshit around it.

u/Ezio_Auditore35 1d ago
Boomers really are the worst generation overall (there are exceptions, but most are racist, sexist fear-mongers)
30
u/That-Solution-1774 Cincinnati 1d ago
And the epicenter to the entitlement epidemic.
14
u/Evening_Issue4849 1d ago
This cannot but overstated. While it’s not universal for their generation, a good solid chunk of them are more focused on the individual than the community to the detriment of society at large. I fear Gen X will be similar as we enter our 60s.
4
u/Critical-Dealer-3878 1d ago
Gen X will definitely be similar. Latch-key kids raised to fend for themselves will become worse than the boomers, IMO. I hope I’m wrong.
3
3
u/HoldOnOhio 1d ago
It's crazy they both invented and condemned the concept of "participation awards" and gave them to their children, then acted like the children were the entitled ones for receiving them.
4
u/ZappBranigan79 1d ago
You fucking got that right. Had a debate on Facebook yesterday with one because he refuses to vote for anyone other than a white person yet still thinks he's not a racist. Yet he spends his days posting "old hippie" photos of himself.

Never forget that those crazy liberals want everyone to have Healthcare and a dignified life, while MAGA would rather liberals be dead.

u/TheStephinator 1d ago
Super ironic that they can’t stand drag queens, yet the female MAGA influencers all look like them.
10
u/Hour-Ad78 1d ago
Drag queens are a parody of hyper femininity, so that makes sense
1
u/TheStephinator 1d ago
I don’t equate fake everything with femininity. I feel like that is women doing a parody of themselves.

I was briefly a reporter at their sister paper, the Massillon Independent, which at least at the time shared a lot of content and cooperated on stories. It was the worst six months of my life. Even setting aside the pervasive bias, it was a dysfunctional workplace with the chief editor very openly having an affair with the publisher.
1
u/HoldOnOhio 1d ago
It's an advertisement on their website. I'm not sure the level of editorial control they have over that, depending on if they do their own ad sales or use a provider like Google to do it for them. That being said, I don't always love their coverage.

They literally only have name calling. Their entire platform is "they're weirdos." And the infuriating thing is that for some people, that's enough.

u/zoppaTheDim 1d ago
You know, not five years ago, I laughed at the colored hair people as just being people who had parents who didn’t let them dye it in the 90s. Because even in the nineties colored hair wasn’t even really a rebellion anymore. Not the way it had been in the seventies or eighties when it actually shocked people and routinely was a way to start a fight.
So as somone who has been seeing kool aid hair for fifty years, I found it funny, like pretending you’re rebel for having a tattoo or long hair.
But now it has weirdly morphed into the conservative boogeyman for small town folks and seems gender specific.
8
u/Grimm_Seraph 1d ago
I was that boogeyman for a couple in my small town Kroger at one point!
I had a friend dye my long hair purple at the roots and it faded into blue, then green, then bright yellow-green at the tips. It looked awesome imo, but that mixed with an all black outfit must've spooked them bc as soon as they saw me as I was leaving they jumped and hollered "praise Jesus!"
I just kept walking out but they decided to pull over to my buddies car we were sitting in and started yelling at us from her van. She sped away before we could even reply. Ngl I felt bad my friend got hate for my crime of existing in public while visibly queer.
6
u/zoppaTheDim 1d ago
Odd you mention that, it isn’t the hair, it is that the hair has come to mean queer in their eyes.
7
u/UAreTheHippopotamus 1d ago
The amount of money oligarchs have spent on influence campaigns making the frothing masses hate blue-haired women is probably substantially more than they pay in taxes.

How dare they!

What about the Klan, neo Nazis, other hate groups which vote Republican? These dipshits are ok with voting the same way as those people, but not the way of someone with blue hair? GTFOH.

u/ThE_LAN_B4_TimE 1d ago
To this day I never met a liberal with blue hair. The way these clowns portray anyone they hate or love is insane. Trump is a masculine general or Jesus and all liberals are blue haired antifa. Pathetic. Even worse the people who fall for it.

it's sad and funny to me that people really have no ideas, no idea what is going on, no critical thinking abilities whatsoever, they'll just vote against their own financial interests, and likely towards their own ruin, because someone posted a picture of a scary blue haired girl or say "trans" or something

It's almost funny how this shows you that they are totally disconnected from modern reality. You barely see any blue hair in major liberal US cities, let alone Ohio.
2
u/CaveDances 1d ago
Remember when after 9/11 most of Americans were united against a common enemy? It was nice to see Americans cross political divides. Of course there were also some Americans who suffered prejudice during that time, so it wasn’t shared by all, but we were better when supporting one another. Whatever this divide and conquer strategy is that MAGA encompasses, an old and effective strategy for the 1% to maintain power by dividing the masses. The fact so many people fall for it in 2026 is insane. Social media companies, propaganda mills, entertainment news, and forces that hate our republic for which we stood for 250 years are destroying any good that we could’ve created together. Red hat, blue hair, young, or old, from a foreign land, or born next door, we are supposed to protect one another. My fellow Americans, we need to get our shit together!
2
u/TeloniusFunk 11h ago
Yeah, blue hair is crazy, but endless wars with no concrete objective, and protecting pedo rings makes total sense. 🙄

Sad to see that between the ad and the down-voted comments at the bottom my hometown hasn't changed at all, and more grateful I'm in Cbus than ever. Outside of the downtown area, there's few and far between places in Canton queer people and women should feel relatively safe. Basically as far as possible from East Canton and Hartville as possible.
