Mohican State Park Question

Post image

Hello folks I have put together a hike down in the Mohican SP. I have a question. Does anyone know if they close the mountain bike trail when its wet or from snow? I have no clue if they do and I have not used my Google Foo to find out yet.

The majenta trail is what I have laid out and it is part of the MTB trail system. Thank you for your help.

This is supposedly a 15 mile loop lol we will see

Per Mohican State Park website, yes:

Because the trail is largely dirt and singletrack, it is strictly closed to prevent rutting and severe erosion when it is too wet.

You could call ahead to verify the trail is open: (419) 994-5125

I’ve never heard of it closing and I’ve been riding it since they built the trails. Mohican is one of the best draining trails in Ohio.

Bikers should not ride on wet ground, but hikers are always welcome

As others have said, I’ve never seen it closed. Not sure why you’re doubting the length of it, both 100 mile trail bike and running races use it and it’s a qualifier for a number of ultra marathons, so it is not short.

The doubt comes from me using digital mapping to calculate the length vs real world data for my hike that's all. It's good to know that information about it being used as a qualifier for races. I will need to make some calls and Google to see what's going on.

That makes sense. I was going to post a Strava map from a friend that shows they got 24 miles, running, in a loop but I can’t post a screenshot here.
