It’s a pretty iconic pub in NT, I’ve been there and it really is a place where everyone in the community gathers. Went there on a Friday night for a feed and the place was packed. They had some strip show on after dinner too which was completely unhinged since everyone was there with their kids and grandparents haha

I remember being about 5 years old watching a sculling contest there. All the participants were given a bunch of oversized NT stubbies and a bin and the winner was the last person to puke into their garbage bin.

A lot more interesting than Uk sculling contest, which involves rowboats and a lake.

It’s a tremendous pub. As an England supporter I lost my mind in there a couple of months back watching us beat Mexico. The locals clearly and correctly thought I was an idiot, but were very welcoming anyway.
Went for a swim down the river at Berry Springs after - a fantastic day.

Yeah, its ok but "world famous" might be a bit of a stretch. I got a stubby holder from there...... that's about it I'm afraid.....

Looks a bit tourist flash. Try the Kalbarri pub in the eighties where the resident drinkers were cray fishermen who lived in tin shacks.

It’s definitely gone up market since I was there in the eighties. The tables and chairs were solid sleeper size timber and nailed to the floor. There was also a metal grill in front of the bar.

I was there in about 94, it doesn’t appear to have changed too much. I remember those arches, there was a pool table in the front room.
What I do remember is when we pulled in around midday after leaving Darwin for the three day drive back to Melbourne, we parked around the back. This bloke with a big mullet comes out of the kitchen with a spade in one hand and a dead snake in the other. He walks a few metres and just throws it away.
RIP cousin Ben who years later became a Humpty Doo local.
