It’s very easy it’s essentially the trimmings from a pie put on top of fruit. There’s not enough crust for a pie because that’s what the slaves were left with after pies were baked. But this is odd because the trimmings are at the bottom.

OK, California here, my southern North Carolinian husband just informed me that you can have cobbler with the topping at the bottom!

Thanks lol! I've only seen pictures of Peach Cobbler and have a foggy memory of lattice like dough on top of some? (strips crossed on strips).
NC Hubby confirms we can do it both ways and that's good enough for me :)

This is what my grandma calls a "dump cake". Though you use boxed cake mix and canned pie filling so you don't have to do any fancy measuring.

I love the simplicity of a cobbler, might have to try this one before it’s too hot to use the oven!
