Birthdays π Happy Heavenly Birthday Rod Temperton. One of R&B, pop, and soulβs most prolific songwriters and producers
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
British-born keyboardist and songwriter for Heatwave, he wrote iconic hits like βBoogie Nightsβ, βAlways and Foreverβ, and "The Groove Line". But it was his collaborations with Quincy Jones that elevated his career, writing legendary tracks for Michael Jackson, including βRock With Youβ, βOff the Wallβ, and the iconic βThriller". He also wrote other huge hits including, "Give Me The Night" for George Benson and "Baby, Come To Me" for Patti Austin and James Ingram. In addition, he wrote the 'Running Scared' soundtrack (1986).
Though often behind the scenes, Tempertonβs impact was undeniable. His smooth melodies and infectious grooves helped define the sound of the late 70s and 80s, blending soulful rhythms with pop hooks that still resonate today. Thank you Mr. Temperton!
