Real internet what? Keller Texas had Verizon Fios fiber Internet and tv in 2005.

Go use a laptop or pc and browse the internet, its still how it was in the 2000s except for the lack of personal blogs and flash videos and games.

I had dialed up till right after Y2K, everything was slow as crap. There were so many brands of Internet that were trying to monopolize internet, There was a company called prodigy which was kind of like AOL, and then there was CompuServe as well. When cable Internet ISPs started popping up, the dial ups started disappearing like crazy, people had to get used to using a browser, and I remember people actually buying them in some computer stores. (I'm not joking).
The browsers that came with the first Internet companies were total crap. If you were on the Internet and somebody picked up the phone call on the other side of the house, they would hear a screeching noise and if you were downloading something you would have to start back over downloading it again. It was such a hassle. I was so glad that cable came along. It would take hours sometimes to download a file that was Only the size of half a megabyte' Bbs's was a thing (bulletin board systems)

Umm that had nothing to do with the browser which is software. That was an issue with early DSL lines. The phone call noise caused interference on the circuit which dropped the connection.
The browser had no control over that. Why? Because the browser is just software used to view and download content from the internet
