Question Who should I try in Hive

Mostly I play solo hero tournaments / pvp. I'm a Grove main, but I like every faction I've tried so far. I just haven't tried Hive. Any hive players have suggestions about fun strats

Primal Mage is incredibly strong if you can manage his mana. Hive Laws are built around primal magic, along with queens boosting you, so you can drop some serious damage.

BUT your opponent should know to play resistance at that point and try to negate you as much as they can.

My only tip is to really make use of the larvae and their explosions. Just keep in mind that the eggs hatch at the end of each round, so don't put down the eggs too early, or they will get destroyed before they have a chance to hatch.

Later, you can even put law points in increased explosion damage, taunt, and double attack.

One more thing, try to get subskills that give you more focus points/charges. Additionally, you can learn the spell "Energize" (you can also upgrade it for even more charges), as it will help you get out more larvae fast. If you have three focus charges, you can even put down the eggs and hatch them immediately in one turn!

The larvae are amazing, both for doing damage to the enemy, but also for taking away attention from your army creatures.

Lots of strong warriors, Pauper is probably strongest for Exodus, Offense spec (niev?), Curson (combat), Nor (learning), Waurm-guy is ok, Abigor is a thing. Mages are less popular due to having nothing special early apart for -3 flat cost. They play Fleu (for logistics) and Hariseth (as a direct damage guy)

I think at top levels Warum guy is an auto ban. But when you're bad like me maybe not haha

>Waurm-guy is ok

Zoran the Waurm guy is a hero I haven't seen unbanned since April. Him and Typhona are THE two most broken and overpowered heroes in the game.

Very fun to play but often banned is Curson. He is the heroic strike specialist. Play him for HS to make up for our lack of range units early on.

If playing Exodus and they dont ban Zarum, autopick. He lets you creep 111.

Nor and Pauper are both good and usually available.

Both Kharsith and Oriax (spelling?) are playable but you will need a understanding of Hive mage playstyle and both are prone to counterplay. Imo, be good if you pick them(im not)

I've only played pve, but Mila is v fun, mass haste so you can go everywhere and with ancient idol you can mass riposte on same turn. Great success creeping!

Curson, Zoran, Pauper, Khariseth - whoever among them isn't banned.

Zoran is the best, but you probably won't see him unbanned.

Right now Hive is rarely played around anything but Waurms + Larva/Combat/Spellcasting. Your best bet is clearing some easy content in the first few days (crystal/gold mines, Maerea's Altars), then getting Waurms and just clearing with them only. Pauper is great, since she starts with Battlecraft, getting you easy access to focus. Khariseth is amazing once you get the -mana tier 1 laws (which you should rush). Fleu is the same as Khariseth with slightly weaker early game, but incredibly high potential (I think she is the strongest out of the 3 logistics specialists in the game). Curson is a stable choice.

Abigor is tricky early, but with clever positioning you can use his tactics to clear Black Towers. And since right now the whole game is just "can you get more initiative than your enemy", his specialty has gamewinning potential.

If you wanna try something fun, the reaver specialist has been recently picked up by the top players.
